Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Slow heart beat with some brown bleeding

I've often read these pages and had a great deal of comfort from them. I had a missed miscarriage in February the baby had stopped at six/seven weeks and my body didn't notice it till i was 9 wks and 3 days. I've since become pregnant again and have missed two periods. I went for an early scan last wed (3/6) a scan i thought would just reassure me that all was okay, this was not the case! They couldn't see anything over my tummy so they had to do it internally, they saw a sac and fetal pole and a heart beat which they said was really slow. They said the pregnancy measured about six weeks, i was then sent away to wait for a further scan in a weeks time. That afternoon i had some brown bleeding which was only really when i wiped not flowing or staning underwear. I informed the EPU unit who brought me in earlier for the scan. I had a scan on MOnday 8th (two days ago) where they said the pregnancy had grown but the heartbeat was still slow since then i have had more bleeding which has been a bit red at times but mainly brown. I am now waiting for the next scan i know that things don;t look good but wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar. I don't have any children and really don't think i can cope with losing another one.

Hi, I know what your going through I had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks in Oct last year and have just come to the end of my second missed mc which was at 12 weeks. I really sympathise with you as it must be terrible to not know but also it still means that there is a glimmer of hope as the pregancy has grown. I don't have any children and the second mc has hit me quite hard but with the support of your partner etc its amazing what you can cope with. This site has been a godsend for me as its just so comforting to know your not alone.

I really hope it all works out for you!!

Big hugs

Coxy xxx

Not sure I can help alot, but do want to say that the internal scan itself can cause red bleeding. The cervix can be irritated and bleed slightly from it. If you want some positive stories, then this website is good. But be warned it has given me a huge amount of hope for a pregnancy that I currently have (8 weeks) that I am being told will certainly miscarry. After reading this website I do not believe the doctors anymore! So if I do actually go on to miscarry I will have to deal with the emotional fallout then.

Hi, Sorry to hear what you're going through. I'm just wondering how the scan dates tie in with your dates? If you have missed 2 periods I'm assuming that you would expect to be further along than 6 weeks? I'm afraid I have had 2 pregnancys when I have measured small for dates and a heart beat has been seen but have then gone on to miscarry. I know how difficult it is when you have no children but there are lots of people who have miscarriages and go on to have successful pregnancies. I had 2 miscarriages then 3 children and then another 2 miscarriages so it can all work out well although it is heartbreaking when it happens. Hope everything turns out well for you.

Thanks for your responses bleeding has turned to red and become heavier with cramps so i'm expecting the worst, scan is in two days been brought forward not looking forward to the next stage. Last time i opted for the proceedure but don't know whether to let it pass naturally this time scared of what i might see the pain and how long it might take. Thanks again for your messages.

Ps has anyone ever had tests done? I feel like maybe something is wrong with my body is it natural to feel this way?

Hi, sorry to hear things seem to have got worse. I managed to get tests done after my second miscarriage (because I was attending the infertility clinic) but they didnt show anything. I think it is natural to think something is wrong with our bodies but it really can just be chance that it goes wrong twice and thats why they generally dont test until 3. It might be worth asking if they can do any tests if you do go on to miscarry. I think its quite individual whether to let things happen naturally or have an ERPC.

If you are already bleeding it may be taken out of your hands. I think it varies a lot how much pain there is, I have been lucky and its not been bad at all, and also how much you see. For me the sac has been about the size of a small egg and I buried it in the garden (which some people may find weird but I know some find it helps). The first time I put it in the bin so I liked being able to do something more positive. Hope thats not too much information and hope you are ok.

Hi, I'm in a similar position. I had light pink bleeding, so the epu scanned me, but couldn't tell whether it was viable. I had a scan 10 days later and even though I had had some more pink bleeding everything looked OK, stong heart beat and the scanner lady even gave me pictures to take home. Last week I had more pink bleeding, a little more than I had had before so I had a third scan today. The scan today showed that everything had doubled in size - which was good, but there was a very slow heart beat - not so good. I now have to go back next Friday for a 4th scan. Its been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster.
Buckler when is your next scam?

Buckler - so sorry . Anything you are feeling now is normal - including thinking you will never have a child. The chances are that you will but I too had two consecutive miscarriages (one of them was a missed one at 9 weeks as well) and I was convinced something was wrong. My third pregnancy was my lucky one and I had dd. I'm now pg with dc2 and so far everything is ok

Don't give up hope and look after yourselves (((()))

Oh Buckler, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope you are feeling better soon and wish you all the luck in the world for the future.

I'm really worried about my scan tomorrow. I've been feeling pregnant all week, but know that a slow heartbeat is not a good sign. I am prepared for the worst.
