5 weeks after miscarriage and still no period...

How long does it take for your period to arrive? Had been told by doctors not to TTC until after period, so I'm getting a bit restless for it to arrive! Also, should I count five weeks from the actual day I miscarried naturally, or should I count from when I stopped bleeding? Did anyone just not get their period for ages and have to go back to the doctor about it? Advice gratefully received

If you count the start of my mc as day 1, then my period came on day 34. I can't recall exactly how long I bled for though, and before that I had regular 28 day cycles.

I think it's usual to wait about 4 to 6 weeks for your first period.

hi emmapp,
i think its usually counted from the 1st day of mc.
my 1st AF came after 5 1/2 wks from 1st day of mc...and i thought its never gonna come.
hopefully yours will come soon..

Mine came 24 days after I firsted started spotting and has been the heaviest I have ever had for 7 days (constant).

I could tell that I ovulated though shortly after I stopped bleeding from the miscarriage. Ovulation pain etc (never had it before). Period 14 days later.

Have you had any signs to help you gauge this?

Also alot of my PG symtoms had disappeared before I started to bleed, so hormones were well on their way down I am sure.

So all I'm saying is it must vary enormously and don't worry.

After my first mc (13 weeks) it took 9 weeks for my period to turn up. It can just take a while for things to sort themselves out.

I didn't get mine cos I fell pg almost immediately, I mean it must have been 2 weeks, meaning I must have ovulated immediately after m/c. I wasn't told not to try either.

thanks so much for all your posts!! really useful and reassuring as it's a very long wait for AF! bandofmothers my hospital Dr's told me to wait till after AF in case any "products" were left from the pregnancy...but my GP said not to bother waiting - very mixed messages, so who knows!

Horrah - my AF has FINALLY arrived yetserday! it took almost 6 weeks to come, i was really starting to think it wouldnt, and that id never get back to normal and being able to ttc (feared maybe there was something wrong as it hadnt arrived!). So now im going to go over to conception thread in a few days, but will deffo check in here too as still feel bit sad from time to time. I cant see any ttc after mc threads in conception area, so will start one up,unless anyone can recommend one there already?

Busybee, not sure what your doctors have told you, but it's usually recommended to wait until you get your first period after a miscarriage before you try to conceive again. This is so that it is easier to put a date to the pregnancy. Hoping you have the doctor's approval for trying right now as it can make things difficult if not. Good luck and best wishes to you and let's hope that is a pregnancy.
