2 in a row does not a problem make.

or summit like that

Basically you can have 10 in a row and then still go on to have a beautiful baby. The docs only get interested after 3 in a row i think.

Ive lost 5 now and am pregnant again, not all consecuative, not all mc but I do also have 2 gorgeous boys to boot. Dont loose heart, keep trying, its never over until its really over.

imum is right - only tend to investigate after 3 and its loads more common than you think (althoguh that is bugger all consolation when you're going through it).

FWIW I followed Zita West guidance this time and I'm sure it helped (even if just doing something positive gave me something to focus on) and know of another couple of folk who followed it after m/c with happy outcomes.

zita west is specialist clinic that was started up by a midwife -help with all kinds of conception/pregnancy issues but particular special area is recurrent miscarriages.

Link to clinic here

www.zitawest.com/

The books on it about getting pregnant or fertility and conception are good -can get em in bigger book shops or the library too.

but you might want to start reading through some of her books that have really good tips on diet, exercise etc. I like it as a good balance between healthy/alternative treatment (eg I'd not been into acupuncture before but am convinced its been key in helping me conceive and be ok through this pregnancy).

Feeling so sad. Lucky have one DS but think my second miscarriage in a row starting. Pink tinged mucus this morning. Feeling wretched.

Hi, I had 2 missed-miscarriages in a row (plus and earlier ectopic). It was only when I had my 3rd missed-miscarriage that anybody took any notice. By that time I was 40. My practical advice to you is depending on your age you might demand a blood test to see if you suffer from a condition called thrombophillia which means that your blood is thicker during pregnancy making it difficult for the smaller capillaries of the placenta to grow. There is treatment during pregnancy for this and although I have no children myself, I know more than enough woman who have gone on to have wonderfully healthy children.

There are many many reasons why a pregnancy can fail before 13 weeks and as devastating as it is please do not give up hope by any means. Grieve for your babies and focus on the future.

Thank you laurieloo, am 39 this summer so feeling pretty worried. Am going to book an appt with the doc this afternoon. my sister is unable to have children and has very low progesterone levels so I will ask to get that checked out. Trouble is in my area, there are loads of late 30s early 40s mums, so the gp's think you're panicking over nothing. Going to try to be assertive though.

Hi Nellstar, if there is anyway you can take someone with you to the GP that always helps you to be more assertive. Maybe write down bullet points so that they don't railroad you. If you still get a no then I would put it to the Dr simply that you are 39 you would like the tests because you have family history AND you don't want to get for 42 and find out there was something consistently causing you to miscarry that they could treat but now at 42 all your chances are much less.

I am also sending you positive thoughts that maybe the worst you fear for your current pregnancy will not happen.

Big hugs. x

nellstar - how you feelng?

Know of others who are over 40 and had multiple early miscarriages but now pregnant - make sure they check your progesterone (sounds like you're onto that) but also your killer cells (I'm not sure what term is but they've done research at lister about how your own antibodies can turn in on the embryo).

and would repeat my advice about zita west - definitely worth looking into as well as your GP.

fingers crossed that this afternoon starts to get you some answers xx

Thank you laurieloo and poppy. I have been away and it's nice to come back to messages of support. Bleeding stopped, then started again, so I went to the doctor who was very helpful. She said that although it looks like my 2nd miscarriage she would refer me as I haven't time on my side and have family history. I went for a scan, it's too early to see if it's all going to go wrong, so they've booked another scan for 2 weeks, but I'm still bleeding lightly. The first doctor was useless and doing everything by the book, refusing to test progesterone levels etc, then the consultant came in and was lovely and immediately ordered bloods. They said they'd ring me with the results yesterday, but didn't. So all I can do is wait. She said at my age, miscarriage risk is 1 in 3, but that it was a good sign I got pregnant very easily. I don't seem to have many pregnancy symptoms except lightheadedness and tiredness but as I've a toddler there are other reasons for that. As I didn't bleed in the 1st trimester with my DS and felt sick as a dog I can only think it's not good news. Thank you both so much. Will keep you posted.

NELLSTAR ((((((((hugs)))))))

ring the epau up they will have your results, and complain that it is quite rude to forget to ring considering the circumstances.

I had 2 miscarriages, and went on to have a lovely little girl....went on to have another miscarriage then had my beautiful son.

I do understand what you are going through and the not knowing is the worst feeling of all.
I know it is easier said than done sweetie....but stay focused, if you levels are rising well enough then it could just be an implantation bleed.....fingers crossed sweetie

if you want to talk anytime then feel free to MSN me

Well they rang and the bloods were good, if really high which of course is worrying me, progesterone 84, hcg over 22,000 which for 5 weeks seems worrying. Continued to bleed but it's got lighter. Hoping it was implantation bleed, but 5 weeks seems late for that? Anyone had experience of hcg that high so early? My hcg with my son was extremely high but was only tested at 12 weeks. Thanks for all the support. Now it's just a waiting game.

I had 2 in a row, then had ds, then m/c again and am now pg again.
"m/c does not mean there's a problem. It's just one of those things.
Have both of them been with same partner. As I've had 3 I asked gp and she said they will only investigate if you have 3 in a row with the same partner.

Fingers crossed for you Nellstar.

Hello, yes I had two in a row. Both at 12 weeks. They came after DD1 was born. I thoguht I wouldn't be able to carry another baby to term and was SO anxious. BUT,I got pregnant a month after my last miscarriage and carried DD2 to term.

Just in case any of you still watching this thread, had a scan yesterday and am carrying identical twins. Very shocked. My chance of miscarriage is very high as they share a placenta but I can only hope.

I've been lurking this thread and just wanted to say congrats Nellstar! That's amazing news, though I totally understand that the shared placenta thing is scary....

All the very best.
