Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Going to miscarry again - so depressing

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 04/06/2020 20:46

I'm pregnant for the 6th time (one dc and x4 mcs) and any symptoms I had gave disappeared. I've now got the same 'empty' feeling I had before each of my mcs.

I've got a scan on Tuesday to see if this pregnancy is viable (will be about 7wks then) but it's all so depressing. I just can't be bothered to go through all of this again. Especially now the hospital aren't offering d&cs due to COVID.

Feel stupid for even trying again to be honest.

I'm so sorry. I have no words of wisdom but I just want you to know you're not alone in your feelings and I'm sending you love and will be thinking of you on Tuesday 💕

I'm really sorry to hear this OP, I don't know if you want hope or not but you really can't tell for sure until the scan.
If it's any hope for you I have a dc, four mcs, and then another dc. Throughout his pg I just have thought I was miscarrying a hundred times.
Do let us know how you get on Flowers

Thank you both. To be honest, saying anything kind acknowledging what I've said helps more than you know.

It's just so depressing- I've done everything I can and this keeps happening. I've even given up caffeine and mint tea. Meanwhile, a friend of mine literally does crack while pregnant and has three healthy children.

Dreading the doctor's kind face on Tuesday when I go in to be scanned and they tell me it's another non viable pregnancy

Sorry you are going through this OP. I had my 3rd MC 3 weeks ago. They wouldn't scan me once the bleeding started, and even after I'd passed everything at home! I was 10 weeks, and had a viability scan at 7 weeks which looked fine.

Have you seen the recurrent MC clinic? Have they checked your bloods for antibodies, clotting factors etc? Hycosy or HSG? Are you rhesus positive or negative? If negative, have you been given Anti-D with each loss?

If you haven't had bleeding , then you aren't out till you have the scan to check. Symptoms naturally come and go with all pregnancies, so there is still hope Flowers

What a worrying time for you. Will keep everything crossed. There is always hope x

Thank you everyone.

Yes - been to the mc clinic but tests didn't find anything. My clinic won't test for NC cells as they say that there's not enough evidence to support the theory.

Why are you concerned that D&C's are happening now? Did you need one with every MC before?

Really hope it's good news OP. If not, firstly I'm so sorry, I know the pain of miscarriage but I can't imagine how much that must be amplified going through it so many times.

If the worst has happened, BPAS can provide miscarriage treatment for free and may still be doing D&Cs - could be wrong but might be worth looking into if that's your "preferred" treatment (sorry, horrible choice of word). I had the medical management through them and can't fault their care.

Sending you all my very best wishes for the future Flowers

I went privately. As I had recent test results they didn't have to repeat them all, did the killer cells one and a couple of others. I took baby aspirin and progesterone (which I think a lot of people are encouraged to take now), a bucket of different vitamins and steroids for the killer cells. I don't know if that's what made the difference or not, but it gave me about of hope to continue.

@Iggi999 which vitamins have you been taking? In taking x2 baby aspirin a day but they refused to prescribe me progesterone.

What tests did the private clinic run that the NHS wouldn't?

@Elouera I needed a d&c for my last mc because it was a twin pregnancy and was showing no signs of going anywhere by itself.

Neither embryo progressed beyond 5wks, was diagnosed as a mmc at 6 then 8 wks and had the op at 10wks.

Feel that this is a multiple pregnancy too as I got a very dark positive test 10 days before my period was due and I've been fainting a lot like before. Attached picture of my first bfp:

Hi OP, this is a bit in the past for me now (dc2 is now 8) but I remember taking multi vitamins, B ones (that might have been as veggie), high strength D3, Co-enzyme Q10, and a selenium/magnesium mix. That's a mix of ones the private miscarriage clinic suggested and ones I heard about on the conception boards on here Smile I saw Dr Shehata and killer cells are his big thing so I only remember that test. I thought it might be an immune thing for me as I already had a thyroid problem - it's worth getting your thyroid checked if haven't already done so as if it is under active you need to correct this in early pregnancy. I got a lot of support on here in some of the long running threads. It wouldn't have occurred to me to go private but it was worth it in the end. I had dc2 fairly quickly though and I'm sure the money would rack up if you had to see someone privately a lot.
I also got into temp tracing to make the conceptions happen a bit faster.
I really hope all of this will turn out to be pointless info for you and you will have good news Flowers

@Iggi999 thank you- I've been taking similar but all it seems to do is swap the mcs for mmcs. I think I'll need to go private to discover a cause as NHS won't test for anything else.

Pregnancy symptoms 100% vanished. Just hoping this lumps on until Tuesday so that I can see on the scan if it's another multiple pregnancy like I thought for my own curiosity

Sorry for your past losses OP, hope this time all is ok after all.

Acupuncture has a good track record for getting and keeping people pregnant. You may wish to look at therapists near you after lockdown and consider trying it.

@AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings
I am so sorry to read your story... it is like reading mine. I had a pregnancy termination at 14w in July 2019, followed by 3 miscarriages between 6 and 9 weeks.
The NSH finally investigated, and an anti-phospholipid syndrome was discovered (blood clotting disease). It is likely that this disease caused the last 3 mcs, but also the growth defect on my first baby girl.
Because of my age, 38, and because my ovarian reserve is also low, we are going to try again this month, and i will have to take aspirin, heparin and progesterone from the positive test until the 36th week of pregnancy.
I suppose your doctors have checked you for anti-phospholipds, anti-cardiolipins, anti-DNA and anti-mitochondria?
I have been living hell in the last 12 months, so i deeply understand your sadness.
I hope you will get some answers eventually.
xx
