Just started medical management

Not sure why I'm writing this but I just want to get it down for some reason. Hoping it'll help me process.

Had 12 week scan (although was supposed to be almost 14) last Monday and scan showed an empty sac estimated to be 7 weeks in size. Prior to that I had an idea that things may not be going well as I'd had some cramping, but then again my boobs were very sore, uterus felt super swollen. Another scan scheduled for today, but told to cancel if I started bleeding. Nothing happened this week, so had scan this morning and as I pretty much knew, still no embryo but sac had grown. Given the option of expectant management (wait and see) or medical management (pills). I opted for the pills.

After paperwork galore, was given one pill to take orally, and another 4 to take home with some cocodamol. Did a little run to Tesco to pick up some nice food, giant nappy sized pads and ibuprofen. I started feeling a little bit cranky and weird in supermarket, but maybe that was in my mind! Got home about an hour ago and inserted the pills and have just eaten some chips (energy and comfort!).

Currently feeling a bit numb emotionally (as you can probably tell from my factual reporting!), physically just period type crampy. Going to have a little nap I think.

Anyone else going through it/been through it and want to chat/handhold?

@Manyminieggs I haven't had this experience but just wanted to say that I'm sorry you are going through it, it must be very difficult.

I think you're doing the right thing by stocking up on necessary supplies and comfort food. A nap also sounds like a good idea as rest will do you good.

I hope it's quick and as painless as possible for you and that you have good support to help you through the emotional pain of your loss x

Woke from nap and watching crap on Netflix. Cramps feel worse but still no bleeding. Actually, more like cramp; just a dull ache front and back. Ate too much posh chocolate and now I feel sick to top it all off. Crap. Want this over now Sad

Aaaaand I've been sick! Although I do feel less gross now. I don't think my body agrees with cocodamol much. I'll stick to paracetamol unless it gets too too bad from now I think.

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this.
I did medical management a couple of weeks ago and had cramps for about 8 hours before any bleeding started. Once it did, I found just sitting on the toilet and letting it all come out for a couple of hours worked best for me, followed by curling up in bed (with an old towel in case to protect the sheets) and running to the loo when needed.
I fully understand the ‘wanting it all over’ feeling and I really hope it goes smoothly for you. Make sure you take some time to rest and heal.

Oh Rhubarb. So sorry to hear you've been through this too. Hope you are feeling better physically and are healing up mentally too. I have plodded around cleaning the house, and amazingly it really helped with the cramps. Once I sit down the pain seems to ramp up, so at the moment keeping moving seems to be better for me, but since the house is nearly all clean and tidy I'll give in in a bit and sit and watch some telly. I felt the tell tale wet feeling in my knickers about an hour ago but didn't rush to look, but now popped to loo and confirmed that the bleeding has started. It's been a week since I've known that it's definitely a mc, but to be honest I've had some intuition from the start that things weren't right, which led to lots of knicker checking over the past few weeks, so to actually see blood is weirdly a relief. It's my 4th mc, last one was 13 weeks too and was pretty 'graphic' so to speak, so I'm not too panicked about what's to come, as unpleasant as it is. I've lit lots of insence (spelling?!) and candles and dropletted some nice smelling oils about so the newly clean house feels cosy and 'ready', if that makes any sense. My kids are with their dad until Thursday so I'll have tomorrow to chill too (although I've got the landcaper coming to do stuff on the garden...talk about bad timing!). Just off to hoover upstairs and swish a cloth around the bathroom, then I'll be ready for more Netflix I think.

Everything still very manageable at the moment. Cramping seems 5o have more or less subsided, more like a pressure now. Currently chilling out with Netflix and my cat, who is being extra attentive. Have packed a bag juuuust in case of needing to go to hospital if things become unmanagable. Hoping it won't come to that, but if the absolute worst happened...at least the paramedics will be blown away by my superior housekeeping skills 😁

Went to bed last night, contraction pains stopped. Bleeding very very light. Has second dose of pills a few hours ago. No pain, no bleeding yet. Why won't my body let go?

Hi @Manyminieggs I hope things have progressed for you today. If not, it might be worth giving the EPU a call to let them know x

Had another dose of pills which I dissolved in my cheek day before yesterday and went to work. Had cramps all evening and felt sure it was going to kick off, but nothing really happened. Bleeding increased slightly yesterday and I went and played some sport in the morning. By mid afternoon I felt something leave my body and it was the sac. Bleeding got lighter but is a bit heavier again today. Still loghter than a normal period. Finding it strange as i haven't passed any other clots at all, and things feel really weird down there, like my cervix hasn't closed or something and feel 'unfinished'. Still feel quite sore. Sorry for tmi. It's really helped writing it down as I can't say this to anyone in real life!

I had a slightly different experience as I took misoprostol vaginally but I guess it’s all the same really! I found out at my 12 week scan the baby hadn’t developed past 7 weeks.

I took it a week ago, started cramping badly about 4 hours after I took the pills and passed the sac about 6 hours after I took the pill. The pain pretty much stopped after I passed the sac, and I didn’t bleed a massive amount. Cramping came back a couple of days later with heavier bleeding.

It’s now been just over a week since I had the miscarriage and I’ve pretty much stopped bleeding and no longer have cramps. I know how you feel about feeling like it’s unfinished, I felt like that. I read some horror stories about how much blood there will be and I didn’t really have a horrendous amount. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative which really surprised me as I felt sure it hadn’t all come out.

Really sorry to hear about your loss, it’s shit isn’t it.
