Really sore boobs first period after miscarriage - is this normal?

Hi. I’m new to the page but I’ll try to get the terminology right! So basically we were TTC for around 8 months and then I got the BFP at around 4 weeks. A week later I started having really bad cramps and the next day heavy bleeding. I went to the EPU who took a blood test and phoned to tell me it was only showing my HCG as 8 which was way too low at that stage so to take a pregnancy test in 2 weeks which should be negative (it was.) Other than being very disappointed and emotional, everything seemed to sort itself out naturally (similar to a very painful, heavy period.) the nurse told me to expect my period in 4-6 weeks and that was all the advice I was offered really. Exactly 4 weeks to the day I miscarried, my period arrived and was normal. My question is ... about 7 days before my period my boobs swelled and were so painful. This isn’t something I ever normally get with a period (obviously I convinced myself I was pregnant again) so I was disappointed when the test came back negative. (A few days ago.) my period has come and gone but my boobs are still really sore and I still get the strange feeling in my stomach. It’s so confusing because all my symptoms which had disappeared have reappeared with my period. Has anyone else experienced this? For 2/3 weeks after my miscarriage I didn’t feel pregnant anymore but now my body seems to be playing cruel tricks on me. I just wanted to know if anyone has felt this way after feeling back to normal? Sorry for the long winded post 🙈 x

Hi didn’t want to read and not reply. I’m still waiting on my first period after miscarriage. I’m starting to feel the symptoms of period but I still haven’t got my BFN yet. I’ve heard your period and hormones can take a few months. The tricks and the waiting feels endless!! Fingers crossed for you x

Thank you so much for replying @BecsterG I’m really sorry you’re going through this too. I hope you’re as okay as you can be. It’s been nearly 3 weeks now and doesn’t seem to be settling at all. I’ve never had this kind pain before. Even walking hurts and my boobs are huge. 🙈 I’m also having spotting mid cycle which again is something I’ve never experienced. It’s all so confusing x

I’m actually doing ok thanks. Hope you are too.

Have you taken a test at all? X

Not since I took one after my period (BFN) but I should still have about 10 days until I’m due again so I’m thinking it would be too early to test. x

Ah that’s annoying! So frustrating. I feel my first period coming since my miscarriage which is good but no idea when it will come as still getting faint positives. I guess it’s only two weeks since I passed the last tissue so maybe need any other week. Who knows x

That’s the thing isn’t it, you just never know where you’re at. It’s very frustrating. My period took 4 weeks to come back so hopefully you will be back to normal soon x

@Bk35 I never had sore boobs as a tww symptom and I had them when I was pregnant so that was my main giveaway. Since my mmc, I have had sore boobs after ovulation every time over the last 6 months.

@Chanel05 the body is amazing but it’s so cruel isn’t it?!

@BecsterG yep! I now also have longer cycles and longer af which is rather irritating.

@Chanel05 I’m still awaiting my BFN post miscarriage. Dread to think what my cycles will be like!! It’s depressing but I’m trying to not think too much on it and enjoy the things I can have when I’m not pregnant etc. X

@Chanel05 so sorry about your mmc. It’s such a confusing and frustrating time. My cycles seem really strange too and I’m having ovulation symptoms I’ve never experienced before. I’m fairly sure I’m not pregnant which makes me think there might be some other reason for the painful boobs. Maybe hormonal as it’s gone on so long. Guess I’m going to have to stop avoiding the doctors. x
