Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Has anybody had a laparoscopy for an Ectopic where the pregnancy couldn't be found?

Hello all,

I'm 5+2, HCG rising normally ( around 6700 currently ) and ultrasound showed a small fluid filled area in my womb a few days ago and same yesterday with nothing in it however Sonographer saw a mass by my right ovary and confirmed with her senior that it was most likely an ectopic.

Had emergency laparoscopy and they can't find the pregnancy in my tubes. I'm so confused and really stressed out, has anybody had this before?

@GoldLeafTree yes I went through exactly this just over 6 weeks ago now. I was 5+4 when I suffered really bad pain in my rectum. Went to the EPU and they scanned me but couldn’t see anything in my uterus. They weren’t sure if it was too early (I did have late implantation bleeding) or be she it was somewhere else, although I was very unwell and bleeding internally, so ruptured ectopic was suspected. Went down for laparoscopy expecting my tube to be removed, only to come up from the operation to be told that there was no ectopic in the tubes (I can’t explain how relieved I was that I didn’t lose a tube). They did find a very small hole on my ovary - the final diagnosis was a ruptured ovarian cyst. They did say they thought it could have been an ovarian ectopic - apparently it is very hard to distinguish between the two and ovarian ectopics are incredibly rare. Unfortunately the next day my HCG started to come down Sad

Have they advised you what the next steps are for you now OP? Will they follow up with a scan? Take it easy and be very kind to yourself, it’s an incredibly traumatic experience. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything works out for you Flowers

@Rainey910 Thank you for replying and I'm so sorry things didn't work out for you.

It was a massive relief to wake up yesterday and hear that hadn't taken a tube. They didn't see anything unusual during the surgery and they're not sure what it is the sonographer saw during the scan that led them to believe it was an ectopic.

I found out today my HCG has doubled since 48 hours ago and is now over 12,000 so I've got a scan first thing in the morning when I'll be 5+3 and hopefully work out what on earth is going on.

I'm exhausted. Yesterday I signed a form consenting the disposal of any pregnancy tissue they found and today the consultant told me we could see a feotus develop in the next few days. My head is all over the place and this is the first time I've ever had surgery too so I'm in a lot of pain.

I'm hoping to go home tomorrow.

Thank you again for replying I'll let you know what happens

@afreshstart1 I'm ok thank you for asking, I came home yesterday afternoon.

I had another ultrasound yesterday morning where a irregular shaped gestational sac was seen so I'll keep having HCG checked and scans done to keep an eye on it. HCG rising perfectly so far!

Sonographer said definitely nothing that looked like an ectopic in the scan and she's not sure what they saw previously but there's nothing there now.
