Miscarriage advice

Hello, I think I’m currently experiencing my second miscarriage. However, first time round it was a silent miscarriage which was discovered at our 12 weeks scan, and had to have surgery. This time I’m 5 weeks and started bleeding yesterday; started off brown but within a few hours turned red. The thing is, I’m not getting the severe cramps you read about, more like period pain, haven’t needed painkillers. Is it likely to get worse? It started at 12pm yesterday... any advise would be helpful as I’m a bit worried xx

Everyone's periods are different and so is every miscarriage! I'm sorry for your loss. I had miscarriages around 5/6 weeks and also around 8 weeks, the only "unusual" pain I had was with the later one. The level and type of bleeding was different to a period though. For me it went on for about a week so you might (or might not) have a bit to go yet.
Sorry that's not very helpful, just it sounds like everything is happening the way it (shittily) needs to.

@iggi999 thank you for your reply Flowers Its helpful to know that this might go on for a while longer, so I can be prepared. At the moment it is quite similar to a period, so also might get heavier I guess..

How long after your miscarriage did you get your period?

On the thread I was on here the first period post Mc was known as the "WTF" period as it was quite random! For me though it was basically four weeks after the miscarriage bleed.
Are you asking as you are planning to try again? It's a hard road but I've known so many people (including me) get there if they keep going.

Morning all!! Sorry to hear about your loss, it really sucks!! I'm currently going through the same, I would have been 6 weeks today. I started to bleed on Saturday, bright red but no cramps to begin with. Phoned 111 in the afternoon as was getting cramps too, they phoned me back 10 hours later! Sunday just had really bad central cramps and brown spotting, could hardly move with out it hurting. Went to go Monday and had blood sample sent off for hormones to be tested, should hear back today (Tues) or weds. But I've just been having the most painful cramps to the point I struggle rolling over in bed or to sit up on the sofa etc!! How long do these cramps last for!! Paracetamol won't even touch it!! I can deal with the brown spotting!! When they ring with my blood results I'm going to speak to them about it!! Sending lots of hugs twinklestars xxxx

Sorry to hear that fmc It really sucks Sad
Does your local hospital have an EPU (early pregnancy unit) as they would be good people to call if this is unbearable or you feel it continues too long. You could at least get better painkillers from a doctor - a bit of codeine would probably help!

Spoke to my EPU today, they think I'm still pregnant from my blood results, wanted me to wait till next week for a scan depending on my home pregnancy tests results of they get fainter or stay they same!! Got a bit upset on the phone so she's got me in for a scan tomorrow!! 🤞🤞
