Periods not back to normal since miscarriage

I am hoping someone can shed some light on my situation. I had a second miscarriage in January at 8 weeks. I opted for medical management but ended up with an infection due to retained products. I bled for over a month and was told that the retained products would pass with my period. Since then my periods have not returned to normal. I get spotting and brown discharge a few days before my expected period followed by 1 day of bleeding and then a few days of further spotting. I've had bloods and a hysteroscopy which have apparently been normal. The doctors dont know why my periods arent back to normal and have told me to give it more time. It's now been 6 months though. Has anyone been through the same or similar? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I wish I had some advice, I didn't want to r&r. I had a D&C at 10 weeks so have been trading lots online, I think it can just take a while for things to settle again, but keep going back to your GP if you need to, good luck x

Hey OP. Really sorry I can't help you because I haven't been through the same, but upon reading, three ideas came to my mind, 1. it could be stress, 2. hormonal issue - either imbalance or PCOS? or 3. Ashermans syndrome? I don't know much about it I'm afraid, but read something the other day. I'm sure you've done your research already, so please ignore me if you've already considered all of these. Didn't want to leave without leaving a response. Sorry you're going through a touch time Flowers

Sorry to hear of your losses. I went through similar last year and I agree with the pp. Sometimes it can just take longer but your doctor could run some hormone tests to check for ovulation (spotting could indicate anovulation/low progesterone). My hormones came back normal and eventually the cycles did settle. I would request hormone levels to be checked. Some women on mumsnet swear by acupuncture to help regulate cycles but I have never tried it.

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I had my bloods checked and they said it was normal. Hysteroscopy was also normal. I am also doing acupuncture.
@mistymeow can you tell me please how long it took for your cycle to return to normal? Were you offered norethisterone or the contraceptive pill?thank you

I absolutely swear by acupuncture, it sped up my first AF after the MMC and also helped me psychologically. Cannot praise it enough. Conception reflexology also helped me as I passed the leftover lining straight afterwards x

@Kukaratcha really good sign that your test results are all normal. My periods became normal at around 7 months post miscarriage. I was offered clomid because the fertility doctor didn’t think I was ovulating every month. I didn’t take it in the end and fell pregnant naturally a few months later (sadly ended in another mmc). I do think bleeds can change after pregnancy and the fact you are ovulating is really promising. I suppose if things don’t settle you could ask them to measure your lining but I know a lot of women who have short, light periods go on to have problem free pregnancies. I hope things settle soon.

@mistymeow thank you for sharing your experience. Its helpful to learn that other people go through the same. Im do sorry to hear about your other MMC. I hope things are better for you now.

They said my lining was fine and so didn't need to take the contraceptive pill. However another doctor told me to take norethisterone to induce a proper bleed. Its confusing as you get different opinions and dont know which one to follow.

@MrsMGE thank you for your advice. I will need to check out conception reflexology. I know reflexology but have not heard of conception reflexology.
