Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

4th miscarriage in a row

I’ve just had my 4th miscarriage in a row and just don’t what to do. It’s ivf so we have acess to drs checking us out. We went to the repeat miscarriage clinic at Guys (local hospital) who repeated everything our ivf clinic did and more. No conclusions, my blood is fine, I’m already on progesterone so can’t add that in. I just seem at a loss of if we do do this again what could we do to have a better sucessful chance? I miscarried on friday so it’s all very fresh. Has anyone had any sucessful pregnancies after multiple losses?

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I just miscarried my 2nd IVF pregnancy yesterday and I can't imagine how shit a 4th would be. I'm thinking about pgs testing because I've had all the blood tests and nothing has been found. I really hope you get some answers.

can you get referred to St Mary's?

I had a successful pregnancy after 5 MCs.

I had a baby after 8 mmc Bon ivf conceived naturally. The specialist thought as I have rhemotoid arthritis my body was thinking the baby was a foreign object. I had my son 2 years ago and they think my body was in remission throughout the pregnancy. Hugs to you though it's dreadful thing to go through

I had six, plus two failed IVF. Now have DD. I started taking aspirin every single day. I also took mineral supplements but that was during fifth and sixth although the results did highlight very high copper and lead exposure.

@TakeMe2Insanity how you getting on? I'm back at work today and dreading it. We're meeting with our consultant today to discuss the next steps, I just want to get going again. Hope you're feeling ok.

@homemadegin did you start the asprin pre ivf. I’ve always taken asprin once we start the ivf drugs. When we spoke to the RMC they said my blood is nice and fluid so no clotting issues.

@LillyLeaf it’s pretty strange. My head wants to start random projects so I don’t become depressed but Monday (2 days after op) I came down with a very heavy cold so I am literally being forced to stay in bed and rest which is horrible. I can’t say I envy having to go to work either. I’m so scared I’ll start comfort eating as I’ve been told to stay off the gym for a few weeks. Gah!

@CassianAndor does St Mary’s offer anything different to Guys’ RMC?

DD was a natural from nowhere baby, I started taking it myself after IVF failed. She came along about eighteen months later.

Thanks

How old are you? Have you had any genetic testing (karyotyping)?

I've had 3 miscarriages (2 following clomid 5 months and ectopic), plus 1 at 8 weeks following ivf with a 5ab embryo.

We had 4 x embryos in freezer - hospital was keen to implant another. I said no and asked for pgs testing. It cost a few thousand pounds, but in hindsight was worth its weight in gold. 2 had basic abnormalities that would 100% have resulted in a miscarriage. The other 2 had complex abnormalities and might have resulted in a baby that would have had serious heart / brain defects. Had I not pushed for the pgs testing, I may have had another 4 miscarriages.

I'm losing some weight before next round of ivf, but would definitely do pgs again.

Sorry for your losses everyone.

After speaking with our consultant we have done karyotyping (might be 4 weeks to get the results) and will pgs test our embryos, even though transfering normal embryos still might end in MC I would rather know.

Hi @LillyLeaf I think I remember you from an ivf board last Oct/November. Hopefully you get your results soon - ours came back normal (we had them done after the 1st loss at 5 months) was good, but also frustrating as ultimately the results took us no further forward.

Definitely agree re the pgs testing. Had I rolled over it would have been more miscarriages and physical / mental consequences, although it was still devastating re the embryos.

Good luck.

@whatthehe11 I had a bit of a false start with IVF in Oct/Nov and ended up doing my EC and 1st transfer in December, seems such a long time ago. So sorry you been through all that. I'm expecting none of my remaining 3 embryos will be any good and mentally preparing myself for another stims cycle. I've put about 11lbs of weight on over the last 6 months so would really like to get back in shape, at least it's something else to focus on.

OP - I don't know - all I know is that it's the leading RMC clinic in the UK (in Europe?) so after being seen by Kings we got ourselves referred there as private patients (because we didn't want to wait).
