Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

I know I’m probably miscarrying but I still want hope!

Hi,

I’m at a loss as to what’s going on, although if I’m thinking logically I know I’m probably micarrying. I’m 6w 2 days and on Wednesday night I had the tiniest bit of pink spotting after wiping. Thursday it was on and off but still very light. By Friday it was red/brown in colour and getting heavier with very mild period type cramps. By last night there was watery red blood every time I went for a wee and (sorry tmi) some small clots. Over night, nothing but again when wiping red/brown blood with some stringey bits (I’m really sorry for the description). It’s like a light period basically. Definitely not heavy but heavier than spotting. I’ve got a scan on Monday but the wait is really hard. It’s likley to be a miscarriage isn’t it?

Not necessarily a miscarriage, that can happen, a friend had similar and the pregnancy continued fine.

Sorry you are going through this stressful time.

When I had a Mc I had terrible cramps as basically your cervix opens as it would in Labour. I was also around 6 weeks. It was much worse than a period and I was curled up in a ball. So maybe if you are not having severe cramps you may be ok.

I wish you all the very best and that your baby sticks.

Thank you for your responses. I’m sorry about your experience @Somersettimes, that sounds awful. Interesting and reassuring to hear about your friend @stayingwithauntysue.

I had a sub-chorionic bleed at 5 and a half weeks. Gushed bright red blood and assumed the worst. This happened on a Saturday. Had to wait for a scan on the Monday.
Absolutely terrifying.
All thankfully was fine and now have a gorgeous toddler.
Continued to bleed / pass small clots for a few weeks afterwards.

Could be either way. Bleeding in the first trimester is fairly common I think. I did in all my pregnancies. Put your feet up and wait. Nothing you do will change anything really but be kind to yourself, you must be worried.Brew

Blondie - thanks but it was a long time ago (+20 years ago) and dh and I had only been dating a few months. The pregnancy was a surprise and was over before I realized I was pregnant. Would have been much much harder emotionally if the baby had of been planned.

There was sadness but we went on to have children a few years later and I remember thinking when pregnant how much worse it would be to have lost one of those long awaited and planned pregnancies.

I am currently 21+5 and around week 5-6 was bleeding when wiping for about a week. Mix from dark to light blood. No clots that I can remember though. I out myself on pelvic rest and EPAC booked me for scan at 8 weeks (as anything earlier couldn't be sure to confirm Hb or anything) all turned out ok.

Don't strain yourself this weekend OP and book docs appointment on Tuesday if you are still having it.

All the best to you x

Thank you @mondayblues7 and I hope you have a happy and healthy rest of pregnancy.

It’s a bit more like a period now, still not as heavy but not looking great 😢

Have you done another pregnancy test? X

Have you contacted your GP or local EPAU Op? Please do this, you'll get to see a nurse and have an ultrasound. I'm an obstetric sonographer and we see lots of women with your symptoms in early pregnancy. Many women do bleed all the way through their pregnancies but you need to see someone to confirm what is happening and what your next steps are.

@mondayblues7 yesterday and it was a blazing positive. I suppose either way the hormones are still around so not sure how useful that is?

@hihoney thank you for your post. I saw a nurse yesterday and she has referred me to the EPU for a scan on Monday- they didn’t have anything sooner due to bank holiday. Hopefully that will be able to tell me what is the likely outcome.

A pregnancy test will still show as positive regardless. Mine still showed as positive 10 days after a miscarriage.

As others have said it's unfortunately just a waiting game.

Another here who had huge bleeding, clots - the works and went on bleeding for the next 4 months - however I have an 11 year old snoring upstairs to prove this isn't always the end. Unfortunately though I've also had less happy results with less bleeding etc- it's different for everyone and with every pregnancy. Thanks for you and the awful wait. Hope it's all ok.

Thank you so much @somersetTimes, @Mondayblue7 and @tinatsarina. Sadly I had already miscarried by the scan but they wanted to confirm to rule out ectopic. A few blood tests have now shown a miscarriage. I’m very emotional

I’m processing it and have been up and down. The smallest things are setting me off but I’ll be ok.
