Pregnancy of Unknown Location?

Hoping someone might have been through similar and can shed some light on what’s going on because it’s been 10 days of tests and scans now and I’m so drained with it all and not getting any real answers.

I’m 6 weeks pregnant and have been light bleeding and mild cramping for last 10 days. My bloods are going up - not doubling every 48 hours but still rising a fair bit and I have pregnancy symptoms.

However nothing showing on scans anywhere inside me so it’s not growing normally but it’s not eptopic. I am just been told to keep going back in every 48 hours for more bloods and they are calling it pregnancy of unknown location. I know I’ve not got my dates wrong so it’s not just an early pregnancy. If it’s not growing where it should be and it’s not eptopic and bloods keep rising then what’s happening?

Anyone had anything similar?

My last pregnancy was a PUL until my HCG levels rose to the point it was visible as an ectopic in my left tube. I was given methotrexate but ruptured a couple of days later anyway. How high are your HCG levels? Have they discussed treating you with MTX? X

Levels are around 2,400 - no one has discussed any options with me other than coming back every 48 hours for more bloods ☹️

Like Custard I also had a PUL which at a later date was found to of been ectopic. We had a lot of hanging around and repeat tests before eventually having methotrexate. With hindsight I would of pushed to have the methotrexate sooner. I was trying to avoid the 3months you have to wait before you can try again& was expecting nasty side effects. In reality it was fine. Id read about people needing lots of time off work etc but went for a job interview (which I got) the following day and only had a bit of tiredness & a bit of extra hair coming out when I washed it.

That’s good to know - maybe I’ll discuss it with them on Wednesday and see what they say... I really just want it all over with now!

So turns out it was unfortunately ectopic and I had surgery to remove my right tube. I’m completely devastated but hear lots of stories of woman in similar situations who go on to have healthy pregnancy’s. Hopefully one day that will be me too..

I'm glad it's over now OP. I know if a few happy endings where people have been in similar situations and I'm sure it will be you one day. Be kind to yourself now x

Sorry to hear that it was ectopic. I also had one 18 years ago, lost my left tube after 9 weeks of to-Ing and fro-ing, heavy bleeding and me being very scared.

Sorry that you're going through this. Your chances of getting pregnant again are actually good so don't panic. The ectopic pregnancy trust say: "Statistically, the chances of having a future successful pregnancy are very good and 65% of women are healthily pregnant within 18 months of an ectopic pregnancy. Some studies suggest this figure rises to around 85% over 2 years."
I had an ectopic pregnancy which resulted in tube removal then got pregnant with DS1 the first cycle I was allowed to try again. It took a bit longer of trying to fall pregnant with DS2 (about a year) but I was 35 by that point so that won't have helped.

I had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube as a result. The Consultant told DH that my chances of falling pregnant again would be low, not only because I lost a tube but because of my age. It took a while but I did fall pregnant again and DS is now 16 months. Do not give up hope.

Definitely don't give up hope. My SIL had two very nasty two ectopicd a good while after I had mine and lost one tube. She's since had two beautiful boys. I should add I've had s son since I had mine also.
