Silent Miscarriage

Hi,

I'm 19 and two weeks ago me and my boyfriend were shocked but then over the moon to find out I was pregnant. I would almost be 8 weeks. On Tuesday, I went to the hospital after having stomach pains and after having both an ultrasound and an internal scan, the doctor came to the conclusion that I had suffered a missed miscarriage. I have to go back in a week and if my body hasn't naturally miscarried then I'll have to have an medically induced miscarriage. I was just wondering if anyone else has been through this and would be really appreciative of any tips or advice on how to deal with it both physically and emotionally.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Isobella ,

Sorry to hear you are going through this. I too am in the same position - missed miscarriage at nine weeks, baby died at six weeks.. initially I chose to miscarry naturally but thinking about the fact that I could be waiting weeks as the pregnancy does not look like it is breaking down on its own so I chose to have medical management next week.

Saying this, I do have two previous experiences of two natural miscarriages.. not to say your experience will be the same but expect strong cramps and quite a bit of bleeding and clots. For me, once I had a few bigger clots passing, my strong cramps subsided a little and it was just cramps. Then emotionally, prepare to give yourselves time to grieve and support each other. Talk to each other about all this openly. My husband never really told me about how he felt about our first two and said we can try again and he's not too bothered about having children as long as I'm happy. I took it that he didn't care much about our losses but in actual fact, he cared just as much.

Keep us updated on how you get on, talking definitely helps and it was also then I realised how many people around me has experienced something like this.
