Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

HCG not doubling, pregnancy not viable, what should I expect?

My HCG has been rising between 50-54% but not doubling in 48 hours. Doctor has told me that it won't be a viable pregnancy. Scan tomorrow to confirm exactly what's gone wrong, does anyone have any experience of this?

I've had no pain, no cramps, no blood. Lots of pregnancy symptoms. Nothing bad at all except my HCG just not doubling. If anyone's had similar what was the end result?

I haven't had similar but I've read similar in the pregnancy section.

Sending you positive vibes for the scan.

Well, hcg doesn't tell the whole story and whilst it isn't reassuring to have bone doubling numbers, you can't know for sure what's going to happen based on hcg alone. Hopefully the scan will provide some clarity. Waiting in limbo is the worst, thinking of you

@Talkwhilstyouwalk Really? My hcg levels have been
22nd - 3410
24th - 5106
26th - 7985

Doctor said that this low an increase is unheard of in a viable pregnancy and that it will not continue.

I don't want to give you false hope as I'm not a doctor, just a patient who has spent too much time on google but once hcg reaches a certain level the doubling times do slow down, here is a link: www.verywellfamily.com/when-do-hcg-levels-stop-doubling-every-two-days-2371281

You'll know more after the scan, with an hcg of that level you should be able to see something. Good luck!

@Talkwhilstyouwalk All the things I found online said after 1,200ml it can take up to 96 hours to double (if that's true I'm totally in range) but when I asked the doctor and even showed her she said that it's heresay, incorrect and that it needs to double every 48hrs. Will update after the scan, thanks for replying xx

Well I'm completely baffled. The doctor who phoned me yesterday with my hcg results literally told me that there is no possibility of the pregnancy being viable and that it was unheard of for levels like mine to lead to a successful pregnancy.

The doctor I just spoke to has said that my scan looks perfect, there's a good sized gestational sac and a healthy looking yolk sac. No fetal pole but he wouldn't expect to see that yet and that 15% of pregnancy's hcg doesn't double and he sees no reason why I won't go on to have a healthy pregnancy.

I want to be happy but after being told it was over I'm just so confused. So so confused. Guess I just have to tough it out for 10 days and pray we see a baby on the next scan.

Maddie, I had the same and they told me it was very likely an ectopic pregnancy. I then had to have scans every couple of days to make sure it wasn't.
It did eventually show as a normal pregnancy and he's now a healthy 11 year old!

Hoping all goes well for you Thanks

I used to work in an epau. The ‘doubling’ of hcg every 48 hours that you read about for a viable pregnancy was outdated even then - the consultant I worked for said that a 65% increase is the minimum they look for when determining if a pregnancy is likely to be viable or not. Very possible guidelines have changed but biology wouldn’t have

@L0kiWh0 Mine wasn't 65% Sad

Was it 48h exactly?

It did increase by a greater % from the 24th to the 26th.

Great news! It sounds promising and my feeling is that you have a good chance of this all being ok, especially since you don't have any signs of miscarriage. Unfortunately it's one that you'll have to wait out but keeping everything crossed for you and sending positive vibes!🤞

An honest answer here.... mine did the same
Increased 23,000 to 26,000, to 33,000 in 10 days.... 6 and 7 week scans showed slow growth of baby but
unfortunately I had a MMC as babies heart stopped before week 8.
Don’t lose all hope hun, but mentally prepare that this could not be right and nature may intervene like it did with me.
I’m currently 10 days after ERPC XX
