Miscarriage starting and scared!

Hello,
I’ve started spotting pink this afternoon and now brown and my lower back is very painful. Ive lost all my pregnancy symptom today and now feeling very weak and dizzy. I’m 5 weeks pregnant. I’m not sure what to do from there and I am really scared. My DH is with me and very supportive but yet I don’t know what to expect and feeling terrified to go through this. Sorry for the new thread as I know we are a lot in the same boat. Thank you!

I'm so sorry, I have no experience and I've never been pregnant (would love to be though!) but I couldn't just read this and leave.

I have read that spotting and light bleeding during early pregnancy doesn't necessarily have to mean a miscarriage. I would hold onto that thought unless it gets worse, then definitely ring 111 for advice or even just to ask what to expect. No one will berate you for calling.

Really hoping for the best for you and that it's just a normal small bleed. Thanks

Really sorry you’re going through this.

As pp said it may not be a miscarriage. If it is, though, then what to expect can vary between women. For me a miscarriage at that kind of stage was just like a heavy, painful period, lasting about as long.

You can find your nearest EPU (early pregnancy unit) here: www.aepu.org.uk/find-a-unit/ Most won’t be staffed overnight but will be able to give you advice over the phone in morning, if you feel like you need it.

If the bleeding gets very heavy (soaking through a pad in an hour) or the pain gets bad, call 111 or go to A&E. But it usually won’t with miscarriages. Flowers and Brew for you.

@adoggymama thanks for asking. I am waiting at the EPU this morning. I feel exhausted but ok. Nothing can actually prepare you for this and I’m sure it’s just the beginning yet of the whole miscarriage process. When I heard miscarriage before, I would though it was something that would happen suddenly and last for maybe one hour. I was very ignorant and now understand that this process last for days. Scary!
