Mmc at 16/20 weeks - options

Had my 20 week scan today and found out baby had died around 16 weeks. Today has been horrendous.

Reason I'm posting is I had a fairly traumatising and lengthy induction for my first (only other) pregnancy, resulting in c section as after everything they could do I only dilated 4 cms anyway. I was planning a c section for this pregnancy as a result.

The only options I've been given here are to be induced or wait and let nature take its course (not recommended because of infection risk). I was told they don't do any surgical d&c type option because of risk of damaging my cervix.

Is this right? Is there no other option but to labour this late on?

So sorry for you. I lost a baby at 22 weeks and had to give birth. It was horrible but there is a risk of adhesion in the uterus with d&c at late stage and a c-section would mean to have to wait way longer ( I believe a year or two) before it is safe to have a pregnancy. I lost my child in July and was pregnant in September, after having just one period .
Don’t wait, it will only get worse. Be induced and ask for an epidural. You will have already the pain of the loss , you don’t need the physical pain as well.

It will get better. One day it won’t be the first thing in your mind in the morning. You will never forget but time will heal your heart.

I'm so sorry for your loss. How are you doing? I had a miscarriage and had to give birth at 16 weeks. It wasn't like a full term birth. Period like pain really.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's heartbreaking. I can't answer your question as I haven't any experience of a loss so late, mine was at 12 weeks and was natural although incredibly painful. If you labour please do ask for all available pain relief, you don't need to feel the physical pain on top of the emotional. I hope you have support around you at this really shit time. Take care of yourself and all the time you need to heal flowers
