Can someone please help with advice. I've have just suffered from two late miscarriages in a row (both babies dieing at around 16 weeks). I am hopefully going to have tests soon but is there hope for the future?

There is always hope. I had an early and a late miscarriage (11 and 17 weeks) and was then diagnosed with an incompetent cervix. I now have a happy 4 year old sitting on the sofa next to me. Sorry for your losses. Flowers

Thanks for your reply. May I ask was the incompetent cervix treated or did you try your luck again. We are in a situation whereby we are unsure what to do next for the best. X

My friend had two second trimester miscarriages before she was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix. She had a cervical stitch once she hit the second trimester with all subsequent pregnancies and has four healthy children.

Will you be referred to a consultant for your next pregnancy? I was but not till I’d had three miscarriages. See if you can speak to your GP & ask if you can be referred to a consultant immediately with any future pregnancies.

I’m so sorry for your losses. xx

I had a cervical stitch for my next pregnancy at 13 weeks. It held until 33 weeks when I had an EMCS due to pre e. I had no problems with the stitch at all and I had cyclogest pesssaries and clindomycin cream to make sure it stayed put. HTH

Should add I was already under a consultant for infertility anyway and he kept me on even when that was resolved which was really helpful and meant regular scans etc and checks as well a quick diagnosis.

So sorry to hear this, I do know what you are going through, it's unbelievably heartbreaking. I had two dc followed by two late mcs, both at 20 weeks (babies died at 14 and 19 weeks). We went to see Mr Shehata and his team at the Miscarriage Clinic in Epsom and we now have a 6-month-old DS. Tests showed the mcs were caused by immune problems which caused problems with the placentas.
