Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

8 weeks loss

Hi guys, so I sadly lost my baby 4 weeks ago at 8 weeks (first child). Me and my partner felt we wanted to try again right away so we have been doing. Can I just ask how soon after some of you had a period and obviously at how many weeks missed period you should test again? It's all so new to me and being my first child and miscarrying I'm absolutely desperate now. Thankyou😊

Hi, so sorry for your loss. I had a mc at 8 weeks last year, and though it all resolved itself fairly simply, I was surprised how much it affected me.

I was also keen to try again quite quickly - I think I had one period, then tried again after that. Was very fortunate to conceive straight away, and he's now sitting in front of me...

I think, though I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along in a minute, you can take a test from the first day of your missed period, though it grows stronger after a few more days. This is usually about 2 weeks from date of ovulation.

Good luck, and apologies if any of this is erroneous - as I said, there are some vastly more knowledgeable people out there.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Hope you're doing OK Flowers

I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks a few months ago. It was about 8 weeks before I had my first period after. I think it varies how long it takes to ovulate / have a period again. Have you had a negative test since the miscarriage? Once you have a negative test you know that any positive test will be a new pregnancy rather than leftover hormones.

I've surprisingly handled it really well I thought I'd be worse than I have been. It's hard but I'm just trying to be as positive as I can now, I know stressing myself out won't do anything. So I'm normally quite clockwork with my periods before pregnancy they was every 4 weeks I obviously didn't know if miscarriage would postpone it. Thanks for your lovely comments it's amazing to know there's light at the ends of the tunnel😊

@GirlCroosh yes I did my test and it came back negative so I know that ones finished also had regular tests at the hospital to make sure my hcg was below 500 that's when they discharge me. It went from 12,000 to 100 in two weeks how crazy the female body works!

@barneymcgroo Thankyou so much my lovely, because it's my first and obviously a miscarriage with my first I'm almost terrified now as I've obviously not had a normal pregnancy. In myself I feel okay, my poor baby obviously wasn't strong enough to make and I would hate for that to mean complications later on in pregnancy. Time will tell now❤️

@diamond I had a mmc at 6 weeks and chose surgery. It was 6 weeks to the day after the surgery that I got my period. I was like clockwork before that; 28 day cycle. I'm now in the TWW as we started trying again after my first period. Like you, this was my first pregnancy and although it was sad I think I have dealt with it well and am now ready to move on. I'm so sorry that you're going through this as well but you seem to have a good attitude to everything. I hope your body settles back to normal quickly.

Currently going through a MC now, I'm 6.5 weeks.

I'm sorry you have gone through this, it's not easy!

The first 10-12 weeks are always the hardest.

This is my first MC so I've no idea what to expect and for how long but just wanted to message with my support Thanks
