Is a chemical pregnancy counted as a loss by doctors?

I had a MMC at 11 weeks in November and have just had a chemical pregnancy. Does anyone know if a chemical pregnancy is counted by doctors as a loss or (for want of a better term) "proper" miscarriage? Thank you.

Sorry to hear that.

In my experience it did count when counting numbers of MC before getting a referral and treatment.

Mine counted it. 2 missed miscarriages and 2 chemicals and it’s xoubted as four losses.

So sorry for your loss. I also had a miscarriage at 12 weeks followed by a chemical pregnancy, my doctors counted it as a loss and i wanted it on my records, so it went towards the horrid number 3 needed before you can be referred for further investigation. Miscarriage is so sad, please look after yourself x

Not in my experience, no. Only losses after 6 weeks counted for investigation purposes.

I didn't need the '3', just two was enough as I had endometriosis so there was already concern about ability to get pregnant. Maybe I got lucky, but worth checking if there are other factors in your medical history.

I hate the term "chemical pregnancy". If I hadn't been through it so unfortunately know what it means I would think that meant you weren't actually pregnant and an imbalance in pregnancy made a test show positive. Maybe that's just me but that's what I thought before I knew what it was. What difference does it make how far along you were, a loss is a loss. (I'm not ranting at anyone on here!)

I would really like to know as I’ve had conflicting advise and opinions but my consultant who specialises in fertility told me a chemical pregnancy is a very early miscarriage. I’ve had 4 miscarriages and one chemical in the last 12 months so feeling a bit desperate x
