Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

HCG dropped half

Hi all,

I'm looking for advice... I found out I'm pregnant last Monday so I booked an appointment for Wednesday. I was 5+3 then (regular cycles etc), but the nurse couldn't see anything on the ultrasound so she made an appointment with the Early Pregnancy Unit the next day. Nothing visible then either (1 day difference, but the 2nd nurse was almost sure there is no viable pregnancy there), took some blood tests, result was 558. On Friday, I started getting period cramps and lower back pain (had to lie down at one point) and brown discharge... On the 3rd appointment on Saturday, the senior gynaecologist told me that HCG levels only increased by 46% and that the rest of the symptoms along with the HCG gave him a reason to believe it's ectopic. So I had to go for another appointment today, where I've been told that my HCG dropped from 815 to 442 and there's a high chance I am miscarrying/will be miscarrying the (probable) ectopic pregnancy. The discharge is getting worse, with dark red bits as well, and the cramps vary in intensity... nothing too bad, but nothing pleasant either.

Has this happened to anyone else? If it truly is ectopic, then a natural miscarriage is better than the worst case scenario surgery... I just want to know for sure so I can stop worrying and going over every single possibility...

Hi Katie, a similar thing is happening to me right now, although my HCG levels have been halfing since my first blood test. The pregnancy for me also can't be located. They are at 47 now & still no bleeding for me. It's annoying because I feel as if I've been kept aloof, not knowing what's happening in your own body or what to expect is scary.

I hope you get your answers soon & quick recovery xx

Hi x Sorry to hear you're going through this...

They discovered the ectopic pregnancy on Friday and I had emergency surgery as I was at risk... Lost my left tube in the process and going through recovery at the minute. With everything removed, I'm sure my hcg is dropping and I'm feeling really depressed as a result (similar to PPD).

Fingers crossed everything works out for you xxx
