Question about HGC Levels after Miscarriage

First and foremost I like to offer my condolences if you are on this form. I know first hand how hard it is to go through something like this. I found out 10/23 that I would miscarry. It took 2 weeks to confirm the diagnosis. I scheduled an appointment for Nov. 3rd for a MVA- a vacuuming procedure to remove the pregnancy. The day before the procedure I had severe cramping and heavy bleeding with clots. I passed the Sac and the bleeding eased up from there. I still went the next day for the MVA and my Dr was only able to remove 2 very small pieces of tissue. After the produce I had very lite spotting for a day. After that day I have had no spotting. I had sex 2 weeks after the miscarriage. This week I was told to come in for follow up blood work because the tissue collected during the procedure was found to not be material from the miscarriage. My HGC levels came back at 10. They want me to return in 5 Days for more blood work. Could this be a new pregnancy? I have mild cramping and slight tenderness in my nipples. I’m curious if it can happen that fast. Any advice or similar experiences would be helpful. Thank you!

It's really impossible to say. The timelines might be just barely possible if you ovulated very soon after passing the sac but they are very tight and it's also quite likely that the HCG that is being picked up now is left over from that pregnancy. It's also common to continue to have pregnancy symptoms for a while after miscarriage, often until you have another period afterwards.

The only thing that will tell you is blood tests to indicate whether HCG is increasing.
