Hi, I was just wondering if I could get some advice.
I am suffering from a miscarriage and I am devastated sad. I was 9 weeks.
When will it be safe to TTC again? For people who have been through this, how long did you leave it until you tried again?

I was advised by the dr to wait till after my next cycle before trying to conceive again

And so sorry for your loss. It’s an awful time. You are grieving for what could have been. Mine was 4 yrs ago and I’ve had a child since and I still sometimes think about the baby I never got to meet x

Thank you flowers I'm sorry for your loss too. It's so painful.
So after my first period following the mc that is when I am safe to try again?

Sorry for your loss x

I had a miscarriage a week today and my consultant confirmed all had gone by scan. She said to me to wait (if I wanted to try again) until the 2nd cycle as the 1st one will most likely be a very light one.

I am debating whether to try again. On the evening of miscarriage I went online and ordered my repeat prescription of pill.... my DH has told me not to take until the next period as I may change my mind in the next few weeks

I tried again after my first period but as I understand it that’s only to help with the dating and could have tried straight away. I had DS already and then had 2 MC at 8 and 5 weeks (May and July). I then got pregnant in Oct and had DD in July (currently feeding her). I wish you all the luck in the world xxx

I was advised one cycle of rest. So miscarriage-no ttc- menstruation - ttc again. Tbh I also felt that my body needed that time to get normal and strong again. I felt better after that cycle of rest.

Hi all, I am in the same dilemma currently going through a mc and just feel constant pain at the moment. Spoke to the dr and he said it’s normal and it will go away so not very helpful at all. I’m half and half of wanting to try again straight away but scared of going through this again just feel exhausted 😳

Sorry for your loss OP. It really is a horrible heartbreaking experience.

I had a miscarriage 4 weeks ago at 11 weeks. I had a scan to confirm that there was no retained products and was then told that they advise to have 1 period before trying again. She did go on to say that if I did fall pregnant before that I wouldn’t be the first to and it doesn’t mean that anything would necessarily go wrong if I did.

I will say though that physically the miscarriage drained me. I felt normal for 4 or 5 days and then extreme tiredness hit me. I think I may have gone back to work too soon but I felt more tired than I did during my pregnancy and it was constant.

I’m still waiting for my period to return but I think it can be a good thing to give your body that time to heal.

Take good care of yourself.

Thank you, that’s something I’m struggling with as well as to when to go back to work. I feel like I would welcome the distraction but worried about either breaking down or biting someone’s head off

I went through a mc last year, in April we waited a couple cycles and then eventually fell pregnant in the August and I am currently laid beside my 6mo dd. Make sure you give yourself time to grieve and re connect with your body and then keep trying, it will happen just try not to carry too much stress into it or worry. sad I’m so so sorry to hear about your loss OP and all the others on this thread that have experienced this. It’s a living nightmare and we don’t forget those babies, they existed in our lives and they’ll always be a part of us but there is a future for other little people. For now focus on you give yourself the time to process it and then when you’re ready in every sense of the word go for it.

Good luck with everything flowers

We had a discussion this evening and it's looking likely that we will try again.... I would have been 12weeks tomorrow....

I recently went through a miscarriage at 6 weeks - I was told it’s best to wait until you have had AF but that is purely for dating purposes if you were to get pregnant- I was informed that if I was to get pregnant before AF then it wouldn’t put me at higher risk of it happening again.

Sorry for your loss - sending lots of strength and support xx

I took 4 months off after my mmc at 10 weeks back in February. Whilst I was desperate to be pregnant again it felt like I needed the time and space to recover not only physically but also mentally. It was right for us, I grieved without the pressure of TTC. I would say that if you’re ready again now, fully ready, then try AFTER your next period. Allow your body to heal. Good luck and I’m sorry for your loss. X
