Advice on natural miscarriage

I had a scan today due to spotting and cramps at weekend and it revealed that I lost the baby at 6+6 (I should be 9+5 today). I’ve had so much pain over the past 2 days but little bleeding, the nurse told me that the baby was low down in my cervix so should be passed in the next few days. Just wondering if this amount of pain without bleeding is normal? It’s making me feel sick and monitor my breathing to control pain.

Also is this classed as a missed miscarriage? I got leaflets about it and guessed this was the catagory I’d put it in. Sorry for the ramble my mind is all over the place today

Haven't got any advice to offer you I'm afraid but I didn't want to just read and run. Just sending lots of love to you. CakeFlowers

At my 8 we scan the baby had died at 6 weeks. The next day after a few hours of contractions and the urge to push I passed a completely intact sack and foetus. The bleeding subsided soon after and there were no complications. .
Sorry for your loss.
Everyone is different though. If being at home is important to you then I say go for it. If the pain is unmanageable don't be afraid to call an ambulance. Or if you worry about excessive blood loss.

Sorry for your loss Random. I had a miscarriage nearly 3 weeks ago and I had not been prepared for how upsetting it would be.

Everyone in different so I can only speak from my own experience. I was 11 weeks but think the baby stopped developing at 10 weeks. I had cramping (not too intense) but constantly there for 2 days. I had spotting but only passed clots when I went for a wee. I suppose the motion was pushing things through.

I'm not sure if it would be classed as a missed miscarriage or not. I suppose it would be classed as that maybe because you were carrying for a while without your body realising that the baby had stopped developing. But at the same time it seems that things are happening naturally now so I'm not sure.

Wishing you all the best.

Thanks for the replies so far it’s much appreciated. I’ve been up half the night and the pain is unreal. I’m bleeding more red now but still not as much as I’d expect and no clots yet. I’ve had paracetamol and ibuprofen but it hasn’t seemed to help much. Wondering if I rang EPU when they open whether there’s any pain relief they can recommend be prescribed?

I feel so much for anyone who’s been through this as if the emotional pain isn’t enough already the physical pain is horrific. I just want to get back to ‘normal’ but don’t really want to go to hospital.

When I went to EPU for a scan to confirm miscarriage I was told that I was able to have something stronger than paracetamol and ibuprofen to manage the pain if I wanted it but for me by then I had passed the foetus and my pain was low level.

I hope you managed to get something sorted for your pain today, if not I suggest speaking to your dr so that they can prescribe you something.

Sorry you are going through this- yes it is a missed miscarriage and just coincidence that your scan has coincided with what it seems is the start of the miscarriage itself. This happened to me also- started miscarrying at about ten weeks after Baby had stopped developing around 7 weeks. After the pain started, the whole process took about 4 days for me. The second time it happened, I elected to have surgical management as we were moving house.

Take care of yourself- it can take a long time to start getting over this cruel thing WineFlowers

Thanks for the replies I believe the worst of the physical side is over (I’ve passed the sac this afternoon). I rang EPU for advice this morning and they got dr to prescribe codeine so that helped.

So sorry to everyone for their losses, definitely been a horrific experience

I’m sorry you’re going though this. I had a missed miscarriage, like you, at 10 weeks in February. It was my one and only pregnancy in now 14 months of TTC. I had horrendous pain until I passed the baby. Afterwards the pain was like a mild period. I felt relief if I’m honest. My heart still is broken but I’m ok and you will be too. Wishing you a speedy recovery, mind body and soul. Xxx
