Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

How long for af to return after ERPC?

I'm currently 7 weeks post erpc, following a mmc.
I thought I had ovulated about 3 weeks ago, but obviously not. I have cramps quite frequently but nothing painful and no other sign of period coming. (Negative preg test).

Googling seems to have most people's af return straightaway. I have been to my dr and he told me to wait a little longer for my body to kick back in again.

Has anyone else had similar? It's driving me crazy as really ready to ttc again.

Oh, I hadn't thought of working it out like that. Might have to work that out and just see.
I don't mind if it's heavier, at the minute I just want it all to go back to normal so we can try again!
Thank you; I hope you are ok after everything too.

Sorry for your loss. It took me exactly seven weeks to get another period. I really hope you conceive again soon and all goes smoothly.

Thanks Cocktails I'm hoping I won't be too far away then.
Sorry for your loss. It sucks, doesn't it.

greentrees Congratulations! So lovely to hear your positive story. I understand the worry; I would be the same. I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Apparently on average you add a week to your regular cycle but most women don't ovulate in that first cycle after mc. (Spent a lot of time trawling PubMed with different search terms)

It's astounding how hard it is to find useful information isn't it. I found out ten days ago that my baby had no heartbeat and went into labour three days ago. The last ten days have just been a haze of confusion and a desperation for some sort of official information that will help me quantify what has happened and what will happen next.

This is horrible. Sorry for your loss. X

Naomi I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you have loved ones who are supporting you.
You're completely right; I just trawl the internet for answers but then it's so conflicting anyway. I did have longer cycles, about 36 days, so I kind of know that means I will have to wait a bit longer.

Take care of yourself.

@Parastars I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.

After my ERPC my periods took a long while to return, I think it was 7 or 8 weeks but definitely didn't return as normal. I've had very irregular periods ever since which is extremely frustrating when ttc. From what I've heard everyone is different and pretty much anything is classed as 'normal.'

I was definitely told at the hospital at the time however, if wanting to conceive again soon, that immediately after miscarriage you are more fertile than normal...I didn't really know how I felt about being told that at the time but it's something I have heard several times since. As far as I understand it, the only reason not to try is that it would be difficult to work out your dates if you did conceive. x

Runnerbean, that's what I understood too - makes it easier for them to date if you've had a couple of cycles.

Apparently you're more likely to chuck out a couple of eggs, possibly one from each ovary as your body tries to settle down and figure out where it's upto.

Thanks both. I'm still without my period, 8 weeks now. I feel like I geared up to ovulate a day or so ago but not sure whether I did or not as I didn't have any opks. That's happened before though but then didn't get af.
Hopefully she shows her face soon so we can move on.
Naomi I'd love twins!

Hi parastars how are you getting on? Today is day 33 for me if you count my MVA as day 1 of cycle. Cycles were 30-32 days before mmc, though this is was my second mc in a row so haven't actually had a period since January. I had EWCM last week so hoping I ovulated again and AF will come soon. Really want to try again.

Hi harriet no change for me at the min, although I've has some boob ache and cramps today so really really crossing my fingers. (Although I've had signs before and they haven't materialised into anything!)
It's 10 weeks for me this week :( I haven't had a period since Jan either with pregnancy and then mmc, erpc and missing af.

Really really sorry to hear about your second mc. Must be so hard for you, you poor love. Hoping af comes soon for you so you can try again

Hi Parastars,
I waited 7 weeks for af after erpc and was told if nothing after 8-10 weeks to contact them just to check all is ok. If you're still waiting after the bank holiday I'd schedule a check up to make sure. Don't want to scare you but I ended up with scarring after my erpc (super rare!!) so always worth a check 😀
