TMI bleeding after surgical management experiences- is this now AF?

First, I just want to say a big thank you to all the posters in this topic. I've been lurking here since my first MMC last month and it's been so comforting to know that I'm not alone.

I had an ERPC almost 4 weeks ago after my MMC was discovered at 9 weeks. I just wondered whether anyone had gone from the expected bleeding after surgery straight into their period?

TMI warning:

Week 1: following the surgery I completed a 5 day course of antibiotics. I rested for a week (dark red blood, not too heavy) then went on a week's prebooked holiday.

Week 2: I did quite a bit of exercise- sightseeing, walking up steep inclines etc and I passed some retained tissue as a result but there was no increase in bleeding.

Week 3: pink watery spotting, dark red cm. Occasional tiny bits of grey tissue. Toyed with seeing GP/calling EPU but I didn't have any of the obvious signs of infection (no temp, odour, pain etc) and was reluctant to have more time off work.

This week (wk 4). Again pink watery spotting and brown cm. Yesterday I finally got a bfn on an early response test. I've never been so happy to see a bfn! Anyway, in the past couple of days I've had more period like blood with tiny black clots. Could this be a period or is it too early after bfn?

I guess I'm asking whether I should trek to the GP next week...

Thanks

I was told to expect af within 4-6 weeks by EPU. The surgeon told me to treat surgery day as first day of my period and to expect the next at the same time as my usual cycle. So I guess it could well be your period. Though, of course if you're worried you should see somebody!

I'm still waiting! But hoping mine will appear soon so I can get back to the trying!

Thanks Dancing. In the end I called the EPU and they asked me to go in for a rescan. Sadly, I'm in the 5% with retained tissue after surgery who need another ERPC. I just want to move on now but am apparently stuck in the never ending miscarriage...

Hope you're looking after yourself x
