Medical miscarriage - not working?

I've been passing clots since Sat but a scan today revealed I have a 3cm x 3cm 'tissue mass' that I still need to pass. Was given misoprostol X 4 orally at 4pm and after about two hours had some cramping and passed a few more clots, but I don't think any tissue. The cramps have since tailed off and I'm just sat here in limbo now, wondering what to do next. Could it be that it hasn't kicked in yet?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had exactly the same happen in November, found out it was a MMC at my 12 week scan.

I started with medical management but it never worked and I ended up having surgery. I was told it's quite rare for it to not work and they should give you a rough timeframe within which you'll know if it's working. I passed a lot of blood and quite a bit of tissue but I knew I was in more pain than I should have been if it was working. I had a mega suppository painkiller the EPU gave me and was still bouncing off the walls after a few hours.

I was really keen to do the whole thing at home and very anti surgery. As it was, I went in to the EPU for an examination as I was sure it just wasn't progressing fast enough and they booked me in for an MVA the next day. It was fine, I was in and out of theatre in half an hour and home straight away, barely bled after it was over and was feeling so much better the next day.

I know I've gone off on one about the surgical option when you're in the middle of medical management, but only because I was hell bent on the medical option and really scared about surgery. So if you don't think it's working and you're in a lot of pain or scared, please hassle them for pain meds, progress checks and different options if you need them.

Hope someone's looking after you and it resolves soon.

Just spoke to the nurse at EPU as I didn't feel I'd got it all out last night. They won't bring me in. Have to wait three weeks then pee on a stick. She says the 'mass' was so small that I may have already passed it last night or will do in the next few days. She says it might have passed in bits anyway. I did cramp up and bleed last night, maybe I did pass it. I dunno. I'm just going to stay home today. I don't feel ill or in pain so I'm just going to sit tight and drink tea. They did say my HCG dropped from 5000 to 2100 between Sat night and Mon morning which would indicate a 'significant loss'.

Think I passed the 'retained products' today. Had a feeling of something pressing on my cervix for about 24 hours, then an urge to poo, which wasn't a poo at all but made a rather large 'plop' in the loo. I didn't look and flushed it away. The feeling of pressure has gone. Urgh, this has all been so medieval.
