I'm now nearly six weeks on from a natural miscarriage. I bled for about three and a half weeks and was still getting a positive test four weeks after, so I went to try and get a follow up scan. However, they did a urine test and it was negative (only two days after I had last done a positive test) so I went away relieved that it was all over.
That was only a week and a half ago, so it seems very soon to get my period, but yesterday I had a little light spotting and then some largish clots - ie, stringy, stretchy bits of brown blood. Then nothing for a while, then a bit more light spotting today. I am a bit baffled and can think of three options :
A: It's my period. I know the first one can be a bit odd after a miscarriage, but I didn't think it was possible so soon after the pregnancy hormones disappeared.
B: The last bit of pregnancy material detached itself last week, hence the negative test, but has only just worked its way out.
C: The hospital somehow got a false negative (it wasn't first morning urine) and this whole sorry miscarriage saga is still ongoing.
I had a bit of a meltdown this morning thinking it was option C. I'm about to go on holiday tomorrow for a week so there's not much chance of getting any medical input until after Easter. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience they can share?
