Hi, i am.being referred to my local NHS RMC and have no idea what to expect, was wondering if anyone could advise?

I have had an mmc at 9 weeks, stillbirth at 27 weeks and mmc at 14 weeks where baby had suspected pataus awaiting results

Slightly off topic but my stillborn son had a condition called PFFD, when it was discovered at 20 weeks scan i had to have an amnio and im almost certain dp and i had blood test and were karotyped however dp says he doesnt think he was. It was almost two years ago and we were going through a lot at the time so i think he may just have forgotten. has anybody else had blood tests at an amnio and the babys father too?

Oh just to add i have asked my hospital and GP but it is another hospital that performs karotyping / genetic test so they couldnt find anything on my records.

I'm sorry I have no advice but would like to follow along if someone else has some information. I am currently going through my 3rd mc. First loss Oct 14 @ 17 weeks, 2nd loss December 16 @ 7 weeks and now @ 5 weeks. I had been on Clomid to help fall pregnant with my second loss, and other two were natural.

I've just had bloods taken and have an appointment with the GP on 19th who is going to talk through blood results then refer me to RMC.

Hopefully someone will come along and shed some light for us xx

Flowers sorry for both your losses.

When I had my third miscarriage (about 6 years ago now) my dh was tested aswell. I can't remember but I'm sure it was gene karyotyping.
The results should remain on your records for at least 8 years. If you contact the hospital where it was done, or ask your GP to contact them, they can find out. Keep pushing them.

And it will be in your dh's records as it was his blood test.

I understand. Its awful. Even though it happened a long time ago, I can still feel that pain and that whole time in my life is a complete blur. I was a slave to the pregnancy test. Horrible things...I don't associate them with happiness anymore.

Sorry summer completely missed your post.

My gp copied the other hospital into the rmc referral so im hoping the rmc will be able to tell me. I remember getting some results and feeling relieved but cant remember if it was karyotype or genetics but dp says he definitely didnt. There was nothing on my gp record.

Can you tell me what tests you had and was your next pregnancy successful?

Hi gingerbreadmam.

Really sorry you're going through this. I can't offer much advice but I can tell you about my experience so far:

1 pregnancy of unknown location (Feb 16)
Missed miscarriage at 8+4 but not found until 10 weeks (September 16)
Chemical pregnancy (Jan 2017) didn't even hit the 5 week mark.

After a visit to my gp who referred me to the local RMC, I received a pack from them asking me to go in for blood tests on day 2-4 of my next cycle. We went at the start of March as I was told to wait one cycle after the chemical and I had 18 bloods tests and nearly fainted - my husband had one and actually passed out Grin. I've been told it will take 12 weeks for the results and I'll receive a letter in the post for an appointment to discuss those and the plan for the next pregnancy (we have been told not to try in that time, in case they need to start treatment before my next pregnancy)

I have already been tested for
Sticky blood
Inherited sticky blood
Thyroid
Vitamin D
Anemia
Coeliac

All of which came back normal.

I'm staying hopeful for the next time around but it's hard sometimes. Xx

Yes 18 vials of blood Shock. I know what you mean about panicking: I'm 30 and feel I've left it too late and 15 months on from wheee we started I'm still none the wiser. Xx

No just wait for my appointment basically and they will advise what they next steps are. I think it's the waiting that's so frustrating as I just want to know if there is an issue or not and if there's not it will feel like we've wasted 4/5 months when we could have been trying but I suppose it's catch 22 at the moment. Yes i know what you mean. I dont want another mc so if they can find something and treat it next time great i am happy to wait.

If there's nothing i dont know how i will deal with that. In the meantime though i am trying to loose weight. My bmi is 35 and i dont that can be a factor so anything under that is going to be a better starting point. Trying to cut down drinking too. I've never really bothered doing that before as ttc can take so long but when i conceived this time it was Christmas and i was drinking a bottle of wine a day. I don't want to be in that position so when u do drink (once or twice a week) i am making sure it is a lot less.

sorry i mean know that can be a factor. dont know whether it can affect pataus or pffd though. i dont think ive read anything that says it does and no medical people have said anything along those lines yet.

With my chemical I did all I could, didn't drink, didn't exercise much once I found out (only walked) it didn't help and we lost that earlier than the others. I agree though as part of me wants them to find something to fix but then part of me doesn't as I don't want there to be an issue. I think knowing you are doing all you can makes you feel better though and I rarely drink in the TWW now and if I do it's 1 or 2 once or twice a week.

yeah i am having a few but not loads. no wine anymore and at the min im having vodka due to diet but trying to make them last a long time. obvs im not trying at the mo but will cut down more when i am.

I am using fitbit and walking but not going to introduce any other exercise that i cant maintain or will be paranoid about next time i get pregnant.

Saying that, your chemical just shows that it really isnt anything that we do but you cant help but search for answers can you?

I questioned everything the first time around but you just can't. I was told if there's a healthy baby in there it's pretty much impossible to do anything yourself that would ruin that. I did some running when I was pregnant and was so paranoid that's why it didn't work out so the last time I stuck to walking but it didn't make a difference. If your body is used to it then it's supposed to be ok. I still think next time I'll stop and just do some power walking.

I hope you get some answers soon, please keep me updated won't you.

Hi Littlefox10,

No real update here - I'm still waiting for my appointment at the RMC -it's been 7 weeks now since my blood tests but they said it could be anything up to 12. Hope your appointment comes through quicker. Xx

Hi nicola was coeliac one of the standard blood tests offered? I had bloods taken at gp for rmc on Tuesday but they all had weird names and I don't know what they are for. However my mum has been pushing me to get tested for coeliac for a couple of years and I haven't done it.. Never really felt the need. But now after 2 miscarriages and a chemical I'm wondering if I should.. I do have some of the signs but I'm also lactose intolerant and have been. Since a baby so I always just put things down to accidently eating more diary than intended..

Lactose intolerance is common in those that have Coeliac disease at least until the gut heals. Don't stop eating gluten until after your results....best of luck x

Hi Smurf123,

I was tested for coeliac with my initial round of blood tests as I think it's one of the more common causes. Mine was negative though but I think it's worth you checking you have been tested and if not request that. Xx

Thanks for your reply Nicola. Wow 7 weeks! They never said a time scale but I'm wishing I now asked. What area are you in? I presume I'll have a long wait as I needed to wait quite a while when I was referred to the fertility clinic. It's so hard when you struggle to fall pregnant then when you eventually do, you struggle to keep the pregnancy. We've currently been trying for 6 years. First pregnancy lost at 17 weeks, second pregnancy (twins) lost at 8 weeks and third pregnancy lost at 5 weeks. It's so soul destroying. I always think about the people who say "oh we're going to start trying." Then a month later they are pregnant!! I never realised it would be this hard to have a baby 😞 sorry to rant on! Xxx
