Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Help - I think I'm miscarrying

I got to my hotel room on a work trip, went to the loo and saw faint, bright red blood, very faint, but definitely there.

Now it's turned in to old blood, mixed with a little faint bright red blood.

I know no one can tell me if I'm actually miscarrying but I'm really scared.

How many weeks are you? X

Where are you? Are you away all weekend? It doesn't have to mean a miscarriage. How far along are you?

Hi, please don't panic. I had this and it was absolutely fine. Try to rest and go to your nearest epd (depending on how far you are) in the morning if you can. It really doesn't always signal the end. Good luck Flowers

I'm 10 weeks. I'm in Germany. My boss has been great (she's had a similar experience) and is happy for me to leave if I need to. It's just the waiting. My friend is a GP and has said I can only wait. I couldn't believe it - been a normal pregnancy so far.

All other symptoms are there - sore boobs, bloat, indigestion. All of which I hate but probably good they're still around!

It could be nothing.

Have you had sex lately or anything that could have irritated your cervix? It is v full of blood right now and so they can bleed easily.

It is good the symptoms are still there. I knew something was wrong with my miscarriages. If you don't feel that way, hopefully your instincts are right.

Op I'm really sorry you are going through through this worry.

Statistics say that most bleeding in pg is not a Mc. The majority of in pg bleeding is in women who then go to term.

I have had bleeding in a continuing pg and have also had a missed Mc. In the mmc I had some sharp cramping, but otherwise the bleeding was the same.

I think you might be best to have a scan at a local Epu there and come home if it is thought you will Mc . Your boss seems very understanding, so it may be good to take her up on the offer to come home? Sending an un mn hug and some Flowers

Is there a German equivalent of an EPU? Probably worth checking out especially if you keep bleeding.

No no sex, not that I haven't wanted to but with my boobs being sore i just can't face it Blush

I'm going to wait until tomorrow and see what happens. Luckily there's a hospital near the hotel but not sure if they have EPUs here.

I had this just over a week ago when I was in France. Started spotting a tiny amount. I spoke to the midwives here and they said if I was bleeding and pregnant then I should be seen immediately to rule out ectopic pregnancy. I'm assuming you haven't had a scan yet and don't know if the baby is positioned correctly? If not then it's probably a good idea to get checked out.

I ended up seeing a GP in France who ambulanced me to the nearest hospital (which seemed very dramatic, given that I felt fine). I then waited in A&E for hours and eventually got sent to gynae for a scan. It'd be worth speaking to your midwife for advice - they all seemed to treat it pretty seriously until they knew it wasn't ectopic.

Thanks all. I had very feint brown blood when I wiped at various times today but its tapered off, I called EPU who said to see GP when I return and be referred for early scan. So doing that and hoping nothing happens in the meantime.

Just got back today and had more blood so I'll try and get a scan tomorrow.

If something does happen, are there places I can go to test my fertility i.e. So I can fix this so it doesn't happen again?

There probably isn't much point. The main cause of miscarriage is a random abnormality in the embryo (trisomies etc). It may never happen again, but is very common and is just terrible luck.

If you really wanted you could go and see a fertility clinic for a 'fertility MOT' or go and speak to a miscarriage expert (e.g. Raj Rai) to talk about it but you'd need to go private and it may not give you any answers. It's more usual to just try again after 1 loss and then see what happens.

But look, with any luck you won't need any of that info. Spotting happens in pregnancy and it may be just fine. Fingers crossed.

Hope it's reassuring news tomorrow OP.

I've had bleeding in early pregnancy but things have been ok - fingers crossed for you.

In terms of future if the worst happens, they don't normally do tests on the NHS until you've had 3 miscarriages (I know Sad), but you could have them done privately.

Thanks all. Saw a GP today and she referred me for a scan as early as tomorrow morning so i guess we will know then.
