Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

First period after miscarriage

Sorry for what is probably a silly question but just wondered how long after miscarrying does it take for periods to return?

Also what sort of cycle compared too before conceiving should I expect?

I miscarried last weekend naturally so know I have a few more weeks of uncertainty (maybe more) before things return to what they were.

I'm just curious as I was like clockwork beforehand with a 28 day cycle and wondering if likely to return like that...?

I've had two miscarriages, although ended up having surgical management both times.

My cycle returned just over four weeks later both times. I've just finished my first period since my mc in December and it was fine, a little heavier and clottier than normal for the first two days, but then calmed down.

I think they say it should come back somewhere between 4-6 weeks later.

Hi Mocha sorry to hear you've had to go through this too, I hope you're coping ok. I think it varies hugely for everyone depending on if there were any retained tissue, how long it took for HCG levels to go down and how far along the pregnancy someone was when MC. I've heard it takes some women 6 - 8 weeks for their first period and some women have very irregular periods afterwards for a couple of months. Our bodies have gone through a rollercoaster of hormones so it can take some time to readjust back.

I was 13 weeks when it happened and it was a MMC where the baby stopped growing at 10 weeks. I had a natural MC in December and got my period 4 weeks and 3 days later (32 days later). My periods were clockwork before and I had a 30 day cycle so not too far off. It was more painful, clotted (sorry tmi), heavy and longer than usual about 8-9 days long but became more like heavy spotting the last 3 days. Hope this info settles your mind xx
