Feeling physically weak after miscarriage

I recently had a mc at nearly seven weeks. The bleeding has stopped now and for my own mental health I would like to get back to running. I ran my first 10k a few weeks before I found out about my pregnancy and I was really enjoying it

But since this mc (my second) I've felt so exhausted and a bit faint when I try to do anything e.g. hoovering or walking a long distance. I don't really remember anything like this from before and I'm wondering when it will pass. Has anyone felt the same?

Yes, I've rested for a week after my pretty early MC recently and I've just restarted cycle commuting but I've not been brave enough to walk up the stairs yet.

I think we need to build up the strength gradually, and do watch your iron levels if this continues. I think the hormones do strange things to the body for a while.

Big hugs.

You maybe anemic or have other vitamin deficiencies. I think you should see your GP.

It's a physically very demanding thing to go through. I was very weak after my last loss (nearly 14 weeks) but it didn't really surprise me as I bled with episodes of very heavy loss, passed clots and contracted on and off for 6 weeks. As others say I think the hormone changes are very tiring as is the emotional & stress side of it all. I got tested about 8 weeks after my loss and whilst my haemoglobin levels were ok my iron stores (ferritin) had all but run out so I was put on iron and that did help me pick up faster. I made sure I ate really well, lots of red meat, liver, oily fish, greens, nuts etc alongside good supplements and just built up strength gradually with walks etc. I think listening to your body is really key and not pushing yourself too hard and overdoing it. Rest is really import ant.

I'm really sorry you are going through it for the second time and hope you are feeling stronger soon.

Thank you everyone. I have made a GP appointment as I feel faint when I bend over so I suspect I could have low iron. The nurse at the EPU said it was common to feel tired and it was possibly emotions feeding into it. It's a rough rough thing on your body and mind as we sadly all know.

Get them to check your ferritin too, low iron stores can make you feel like shite even if your circulating iron levels are okay.
