Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Medical miscarriage uncertainty

Hi ladies

I had a medical miscarriage 10 days ago and bled off and on for 7/8 days. There were some clots but only very small ones and the bleeding wasn't much heavier than my period often is. It really wasn't so bad. I expected worse based on what I've read. Is that normal or do you think there is more still to come out? I really hope it's over as I want to start healing so I can try again soon. I have a follow up appointment scheduled for Thursday but it's playing on my mind.

Many thanks x

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. How many weeks were you?

Thank you. I measured 6 + 4 but was meant to be 8 weeks.

Hi again, I had a similarish experience last month. I was supposed to be 7 weeks and had an early reassurance scan which was not reassuring as it showed a sac measuring 5 weeks 6 days, no heartbeat. When I was 8 weeks, I started to bleed. On the second day it got quite heavy like heavy day of period, few cramps. Then continued to bleed for a few days, it gradually tailed off. Maybe 8 days bleeding in total. I was worried the miscarriage was incomplete so bought some cheapie pregnancy tests on Amazon and tested each day for a week and the line got fainter and fainter and after about a week it was negative.

Anyway I had read a lot of bad stuff about severe pain and heavy bleeding even with an early miscarriage but in my case I got away lightly, it really was about the same as a regular period.

So hopefully yours is finished too.

Of course I was devastated but also glad to get it over with so I can hopefully try again soon.

Sorry again and best of luck with trying again x

Thank you for your response. I'm sorry for your loss.

I had a reassurance scan at 7 weeks and there was a heartbeat but it was measuring 6 days behind. When I returned a week later for the follow up scan it had stopped growing and had no heartbeat. Super frustrating as it is an ivf baby and can't try again until I've had 2 periods.

Bleeding-wise, I hope that I also have had the same as you and it just wasn't that dramatic. Really hope it's done now. Will see what the scan shows on Thursday.

All the best x

Oh it sounds a bit similar so I am hoping you're all done too. It's horrible because I was devastated by my miscarriage and then ended up hoping it was definitely all gone and wanting the test to go negative so I could move on, but then felt guilty about feeling like that.

Sorry to hear that you will have to wait a bit longer to try again too, the fact it was IVF makes it extra sad and frustrating I think. Maybe you have some more embryos frozen or will you have to go through the whole thing again?

Anyway wishing you a good clear result on Thursday, rather than any complications - I was relieved to avoid an ERPC etc.

It's my first miscarriage and it completely sucks doesn't it :(

x

With my early miscarriage the tablets only caused very heavy bleeding and large (palm sized) clots but the sac didn't come out until 4 days later, just as i was lesving work. I was in the bath for a few hours due to the pain and i definitely knew when i passed the sac as it was a pink, rubbery pouch (almost like the inner of a football, but about 7cm). Once i had passed that, the bleeding was very light for a few days and i had no further cramping.

I have just found out i have miscarried again and I am going to opt for the surgical management this time (unless i spontaneously start) for greater control.

Alibingo I know what you mean. But this is my 3rd pregnancy. The first I lost at 21 weeks so while I'm v disappointed and frustrated it isn't as bad as that was. My second pregnancy was my little boy.
I do have frozen embryos so at least I don't have to start from the v beginning. As you say though, it really sucks! Good luck x

5tardusty- I'm sorry for your losses. I was expecting an experience like you described but it's not been like that at all. Just like a period. I guess they vary a lot. Hope you find the surgical approach less distressing x

Gosh 21 weeks, I'm so sorry. I had a loss at 16 weeks and that helped make this one seem less bad too I suppose. Also lucky to already have children.

Good luck with your next IVF, really hope you get a sticky one x
