How long will it take to start miscarrying?

Hi all

I posted in Pregnancy last week as I have been having positive tests for nearly three weeks now. However, Clearblue digital has never gone past 1-2 weeks in that time and whilst I realise they are not an exact science, in previous pregnancies they have always been exact. Mainly though, I haven't felt pregnant. I am always well aware that I am pregnant before a test will show positive, even an early one. I only took a test four days before period was due because I was due to go out and wanted to see if I could drink (because I am trying). I went to docs and was sent for a hcg beta blood test at 5+6 (I am now 6+2) having told the doctor that I knew it wasn't a viable pregnancy and despite showing a strong positive she listened and agreed to the test. I have to go back early next week for next step or booking in. My beta hcg reads 290, and it should be a lot higher than that by now. So it looks like my instinct was right. I have accepted from the start that this was never going to go the distance so I don't have the upset as such but I am a bit in limbo not knowing how long it is going to take to start miscarrying. My pregnancy has obviously not progressed past about 4 weeks so when is it likely I will start bleeding? Will the doctor give me something to help me along?

Sorry to hear that. I think the "when will bleeding start" is a bit like the classic "how long is a piece of string" but I recently had a miscarriage, I was scanned at 7 weeks and it only measured 5w3d, the medics advised I wait 2 weeks to see if I bled and it started at 7 weeks 5 days so for me it was 2-3 weeks after the pregnancy failed that my body decided to eject it. I hope yours happens soon, as once you know it's over you just want it to be completely over really don't you.

The waiting and not knowing is really crappy isn't it.

I hope you are ok. My baby stopped growing at 4 weeks but I started bleeding at 10 weeks which was my only indication there was a problem. Hopefully yours is much quicker.
