I am currently having my 3rd miscarriage.
Confirmed this morning by negative pregnancy test at hospital. I was 4W 6D.
I have a doctors appointment tomorrow where I will ask for investigation tests.
What should I expect??
We have a 3yr old daughter.

Hi, I can't really help with your question but I just wanted to say sorry for your loss. I'm currently miscarrying at 10 weeks, it is horribly upsetting.

I hope they can help you at the clinic.

Xxx

Hi, I've had three in a row, two early and I e late. I have a four year old daughter. Ask for referral to a recurrent miscarriage clinic. there are specialist ones out there, I'm currently under St. Mary's in London, and I live in Milton Keynes, so you can get referred to clinics "out of area". Ask your gp to check your thyroid levels, both TAG and T4, as I was advised this can be a cause of secondary issues. My husband had a sperm test which came back abnormal, so it may be worth seeing if he can be referred for a comprehensive sperm analysis. we never expected to find. A problem there as we have conceived within six months on each of our four pregnancies. There is talk of natural killer cell testing as well, but this is a new area. Best of luck xx

I have an appointment with a gynaecologist at my local hospital end of August.
What tests can I expect and are there some tests I will have to pay private for? Such as the NK test.

Sorry giraffe I'm not sure what they will do. I've been referred to my recurrent miscarriage clinic but haven't received an appointment yet. If I get an appointment before you which is unlikely I'll report back.

I've had 4 miscarriages after a healthy pregnancy who is now 4. A very similar situation. I had the physical tests done , scans on ovary , hycosy, sperm analysis. Then I got oregnant but lost again at 6 weeks. So now I've just had all the blood tests, I don't know what they all are but it's for things like clotting and thyroid. Im waiting for the results . It's all very hard and I'm giving up hope

They do all the tests but won't do nk on nhs. You would have to pay privately. I have also been to see a private clinic and they said if I manage to gte oregnant again, I can pay for steroids and blood thinning injections. Nhs won't do this. I will do this as after 4 loses on the trot don't have anything to lose. Good luck , it's awful.

Hi, I have been trying to reply to this thread for a few days now, but my phone has decided not to play! I have my follow up at st marys tomorrow so I shall report back. RMC clinics generally look at "sticky blood" (anti phospholipid syndrome) as this can be a common culprit of RMC. I was recommended to have my thyroid function checked as apparently an under tactile thyroid can be a culprit. I have also paid privately for NK cells, but have been told that with a mixed bag of results, there isn't treatment protocol for this particular as I'm not an IVF patient, so that's money down the drain.

What I would HIGHLY recommend is getting your other half checked out. Through all of this, the focus has been on me, and as a result I have been beating myself up for years. It would appear that most gynaecologists believe it is down To the woman, and I was told we have probably had "bad luck" and that there was no point getting my husband checked out. My acupuncturist actually referred my husband for a comprehensive semen analysis, just so that we could rule him out of the equation, and what has come out is that we probably now have our reason for our losses. I am still waiting for my results, so we don't know the whole picture, but my husband has an undiagnosed infection (not an STI, we have both been re-checked and both clear), and this has caused not just low motility, but a very high number of damaged sperm. He has no symptoms of anything whatsoever, so it is crazy that we have potentially found the culprit of all this devatastation in a place that isn't normally examined through RMC tests. There is a lot that is unknown about this area, I understand. Thankfully, a Urologist on Friday said he is confident it can be treated (75%) chance. I know that if it isn't and long term damage has been done, then it is IVF with ICSI for us. So I would urge anyone to speak with their gp about how they can access a comprehensive sperm analysis. Best of luck xx
