Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Miscarriage 16 weeks

I am new to mumsnet
I suffered a miscarriage at 16 weeks just over a week ago.
I have had spotting since 8 weeks but was told that all seems fine and my 12 week scan showed a strong heartbeat and a happy looking baby.
So it was a great shock to learn that my baby had died about a week earlier than 16 weeks. I went for a private scan to be told that there was no heartbeat 😞
The past week has been the hardest in my life - having had to be induced and deliver the foetus and endure excessive blood loss and needing GA to remove a retained placenta
My and my hubby are just grief stricken and struggling to come to terms with what has happened and why

I am so sorry hampton it is an awful thing to go through. I had four first trimester losses along the way to completing my family and it is the most traumatic, distressing and isolating experience to go through. There is a miscarriage board on mumsnet, I suggest you post there for more traffic from other women who have been through similar. I don't know what I would have done without support from the online community. Flowers

Hampton Flowers you poor thing.

I'm suffering a missed miscarriage but only at 11 weeks. I'm having to have d&c on Monday as although the baby died four weeks ago, my body is showing no signs of miscarrying naturally.

I can only imagine how much worse it is for you being a few weeks further along.

It just feels so cruel, doesn't it?

You're not alone, and there is a supportive community of people who understand on Mumsnet.

Hampton I'm so sorry to hear of your lossFlowers

I lost at a very similar term and had the almost exactly the same experience as you....induction etc....even had to have the retained placenta etc removed as yourself. Passed out, excessive bleeding etc.

It's so so hard to get your head around everything. We chose to have a PM but it revealed nothing.

Kind of comforting, but not if that makes sense.

Did you have a bereavement midwife? I found ours a great comfort in the weeks following.

Be really kind to yourself....these things sadly happen it's hard to get your head round sometimes.

I'm Thinking of you
