Hi I had a blighted ovum miscarriage at 14 weeks- involved lots of heavy bleeding, black outs and blood transfusions! This happened 2 months ago and I am on iron tablets and still don't feel 100%. I have had one period all good normal timings and then a week later a heavier period started- and I'm totally drained and depressed- didn't have too much to drink last night but had a hangover from hell this morning. And can't shake the gloomy feeling that things are pointless. I'm isually quite upbeat! I guess I'm wondering if other people had crazy cycles after a miscarriage- is it normal for me to feel so shit when I've got my period and is it usuall for the blues to still hit me- as if from nowhere... ?

Hi there, I'm so sorry for what you've been through. Mine was only 8 weeks and it's been pretty horrendous so I can only imagine how you're feeling...

Your hormones will be all over the place, and what no one tells you about miscarriage is the pain and how bloody long it goes on for! And the stuff that comes out!

You were nurturing that little thing for 14 weeks and in your mind it was a baby, a whole future imagined.

So with all of that, of course you will feel dreadful. And sad. And lost maybe? I'm going through it all and it's exhausting. Feel unsure whether I can go through it again right now, I just need time. If not then what of the future..?

Sending lots of hugs and empathy xxx

I've had 2 losses, one at 22 weeks and one at 14. My cycles were really messed up after dd2 (22 weeks) with really heavy periods. Turns out I'd developed endometriosis (possibly through transfer of cells from womb outside by an injection)

My cycles are more regular after my 14 week loss but the first period after each loss was horrifically heavy and debilitating. I was utterly shattered afterwards.

Kitty I'm so sorry to hear about your endo. I have a friend who conceived straight after her endo was treated via a laparoscopy, there is hope when you're ready to try again...

Ladies, I've just started a new thread, TTC Self Help book club, to discuss two books that many Mumsnetters have recommended, that offer advice on how to prevent miscarriage and have a successful pregnancy. Do join if you think it's of interest.

Dixxie that's very kind, I was due to have a laposcopy before I found out I was pregnant.

I won't be having any more. We are lucky to have dd1. I am far too high risk for another late loss to take the risk.
