Am I too old at 43 to hope to maintain a pregnancy. I have had 4 miscarriages and now am struggling to get pregnant. Any ladies with stories of hope. Just started bleeding 5 days before period is due was hoping it was implantation but not holding out much hope.

I don't know the answer to your question. I'm really sorry for your losses. Flowers

If you go to the conception boards you'll find a thread for over 40's trying to conceive - they look like a supportive and wise bunch

Hiya, I had my long awaited (8years) baby at 43 after 7 miscarriages and long periods of infertility.

Thought I was too old to carry on, gave up, got the pill and waited to take it after my 7th miscarriage. Felt very very unwell, thought I had retained products but there was my little ds on screen at the scan.

I had been to the experts, had heparin injections, hormone boosters, industrial strength folic acid and still miscarried so assumed I was just shut at growing babies.

Turns out, miraculously, I was wrong Wink

Thank you jimijack, I was starting to think that I am shut at growing babies. I am trying to stay positive and this really helps ;-)

Hi, sorry for your loss.
After 3 DC I fell pregnant unexpectedly at 44 (we'd got very relaxed about contraception as we got older!). Though not exactly planned ,the pregnancy was very welome and we were devastated when I miscarried at 11 weeks. We then decied to actively ttc, our family felt somehow incomplete , but I went on to miscarry another 3 times. At this point I was 45 and we were told the chance of any subsequent pregnancy being successful was 50:50. We decided to give up but I then discovered I was pregnant again and this one stuck, after a very straightforward pregnancy my little DD was born when I was 46.
So it's certainly possible but the chances of miscarriage are higher the older you are,
so it's not an easy journey. I found the over 40s thread on the conception board very supportive, definitely worth checking it out. Good luck!
