Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

So scared about scan tomorrow

I'm 12 weeks (just over) and have my dating scan tomorrow. On Saturday when I went to the loo and wiped there was a fair bit of dark brown blood. I phoned the maternity hospital but the earliest scan they could give me was tues when I have my dating scan anyway. I've been a nervous wreck since then and have now got it in to my head they are going to tell me something awful. The spotting has continued since sat but not very heavy - occasionally with small dark brown mucusy bits (sorry, tmi). I've not had any pain, just the usual twinges I get all the time. I guess I'm just looking for any experience/a hand to hold. Things are terrible at the moment anyway, my lovely mother-in-law has only weeks to live and I'm worried how I'll cope if its bad news. Thanks for reading x

Hi I hope ur scan goes well, some people do get slight bleeding or spotting when they normally would of had periods? Would it be around that time for you ?
Best of luck xx
everyone will be wishing for you

The wait is horrible, isn't it? As said above, sometimes bleeding can occur around when you would have had a period. And brown blood is better than red. Will keep my fingers crossed, I really hope it's good news for you xxx

Thank you both for replying. I had a look at the app I'd been using to track my periods while trying to get pregnant but no, I wouldn't have been due my period just now. I have heard it's common, it's just completely freaked me out as I had no bleeding at all with DD. The waiting is unbearable. At least by this time tomorrow, good or bad, I'll know. We'd been trying for 10 months and I was starting to lose hope. Discovered I was pregnant snd the following week we got the news about my mum-in-law. It all just seems so unfair x

Good luck, if it's any consolation I had this during both pregnancies although a bit earlier on, and both babies were fine. I am now expecting it with no 3. I hope all goes well for you and baby x

The scan showed a healthy little baby - I cried with relief. They said the spotting is very common but everything is just as it should be. I feel so, so lucky. Thank you all for thinking of me, it is so appreciated x

I had a similar bleed at 13w, no reason was ever found for it. I'm glad all is well, hope you have a lovely remaining 6m Smile

Brilliant news.

I know this sounds odd but I had spotting (red) in my third trimester with dd1. Went into hospital for it a few times. They though it was probably cervical erosion (which I now seem to get from the start in pregnancy) but they also said it could be made worse by dehydration.

My first instance was on a really hot day and I'd not drunk much. Possibly try and make sure you stay cool and drink a decent amount.

(I am aware how weird it sounds, even now!)

Thank you all so much Flowers

kitty Actually, I am not great at keeping hydrated but have been making a conscious effort to keep on top of this - however, over the last few days I have been aware of not drinking enough - so you could have something there!
