Hi I had an erpc 4 weeks ago after discovering a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan, two days after the operation I ended up at out of hours gp and was given 3 antibiotics as had signs of infection and urine dip showed this too. Since then I have had persistent pains and aches was prescribed more antibiotics over the phone with the gp, last week I had more pains again spoke to doctor on phone who said UTI more antibiotics which I finished yesterday, over xmas and last three days my pain has increased to a constant aching throbbing feeling, I went to A&E today and they was shocked ive had no examination or scan since the op, just constant antibiotics metronidazole doxicicline trimethoprine pennacillin, My urine test showed negative Pregnancy but blood and White cells etc they won't give me antibiotics again as clearly not working I have no signs or pain in kidneys of another UTI, I have an emergency gynea appointment in a week as soonest they can fit me in, I am frustrated and in pain I'm fed up of no answers from anyone and being told to wait, I am in constant niggling pain and emotional over the loss of my baby I want to move on and try again but can't, I'm desperate for answers on what is wrong with me could it be retained products? I'm not unwell just this pain and tenderness ?? so fed up with this

Yes, it might well be and your GP shouldn't fob you off. Im very rare cases it can be 'molar' which is quite serious (but 1/3000 rare). But more usually it can cause infection.
Push for a scan/gynie check up sooner. Many GPs are sadly ignorant of the risks and women end up having hospital stays and not being allowed to TTC for a while because of it.
Google and see if there's a walk in gynie/EPU in your area, too.

Oh Katie, I'm so sorry for your loss Sad

I'm afraid I don't have any experience or answers but I didn't want your post to go unanswered. I hope more knowledgeable posters come along soon.

I'm shocked that your GP just prescribed antibiotics over the phone without examining you. Being generous, I'm hoping that they didn't want to drag you in and put you through an examination and all the prodding and poking that can involve but of course, that's no good to you now and has only prolonged your pain.

Maybe this charity can advise what can expect by way of answers or even if you just need someone to talk to Miscarriage Association

Take care of yourself my lovely Flowers

I hope you get answers soon Katie. Calling the EPU is a really good idea.

Let us know how you get on if you feel like you want to talk
