Positive pregnancy test 2 weeks after d&c

Hi all,

I had a d&c 2 weeks ago with no bleeding afterwards apart from some brown spotting for a few days which was barely there. After the operation (NHS) the Dr said the procedure went well and I didn't need to come back for a follow up.

She said to take a pregnancy test 2 weeks after the operation which should come back neg however I took one this evening and the positive marking is still really dark.

Just before the d&c I had some blood work done and my hcg levels were over 130,000 - baby measured only 6+4 at 10 week scan :-(

Does anyone know if it's normal to still test positive 2 weeks post? I am desperate for my body to start ovulating so DH and I can start TTC again xx

It has taken me 3 weeks each time I MC at 8-10 weeks to get a negative. I was told to contact them if still positive after 2 weeks and GP checked that HCG levels were low and falling. They follow it up to make sure there's no retained tissue (fairly common) and to rule out molar pregnancy (rare). They might just say test again in a week, but worth letting them know.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I got positive tests for 6 weeks afterwards. Then I got a period.

i was about to go and get checked out to see if there was retained tissue when I got a negative test. X

Fingers crossed for you. If it's any help, we waited for one period (for dating purposes only) and then carried on trying.

I had two horrendous periods and then got pregnant again the third month. He is now almost 2 and a half!

So always remember each pregnancy is different and wishing you loads of luck x

Thats such great news Pam! This was out first pregnancy so the next time around anxiety levels will be at an all time high worried that the same thing will happening again!

I was so shocked to hear how common mmc's are after it happened to us and most couples have gone on to have successful pregnancies afterwards so Im crossing my fingers and holding on to that thought :) xx
