Posting here for more traffic!

Not really sure what to think. 15 days after the operation and I'm testing positive.

Last test I did was last Wednesday and it was fainter than this slightly!

My Doctor won't see me today, I'll have to call tomorrow.

Yes I think it is possible to be normally pg and ectopic at the same time.

I had a very scary ectopic pg 17 years ago. I only found out by doing a poas test to find the right time to conceive. I kept getting the go dtd indicator. I went to the GP and she did a pregnancy test it was positive and sent me to hospital.

The hospital did a special blood test that would confirm ectopic pg diagnosis. It was inconclusive, they sent me home. That night I had a pain in my shoulder and was admitted to hospital. Next morning, planned laparoscopy but I had a major bleed and emergency surgery.

I vaguely remember being told I could still be pregnant because by my reckoning I was 11 weeks with the ectopic pregnancy and was trying to conceive all that time. However, I wasn't. But happily I went on to have 2 daughters.

Its a horrible thing to live through. flowers for your recovery

Have you had sex since your op

stateoftheart Tue 15-Jul-14 12:03:40

Yes I had sex about 3 days after the op.

I'm still not sure whether my coil is in! They didn't mention removing it and when I asked they didn't know whether it had been removed because they couldn't get hold if the surgeon. But I can't feel the strings.

Am going back to the ward I was discharged from for blood tests. They have my after op results so can compare them

I had an ectopic last year and it took about 3 weeks for my HPTs to come back as negative. Hope today gives you some answers.

I think it's the fact the test seems darker than last week that's making me worry/excited

ICanSeeTheSun Tue 15-Jul-14 15:37:31

I don't want to get your hopes up but I think you may be pregnant.

The bloods came back. I last had them
done 12 day ago and my levels were 140, now they are 115 so it's a very slow drop.

But my test is definately darker than last week when it was nearly gone.

I have to go back Monday for more bloods.

I did another test today and it's ever so slightly darker.

Not enough to make me think it's doubled so I could be pregnant. But enough to make me worry!!

Top one is today, bottom one is Monday

Has this worked?

In my experience of miscarriages (not quite the same, I know), it can take at least a few weeks for HCG levels to drop. I did a pregnancy test 6 weeks after one of my miscarriages, and it was positive. I was so excited, thought I had conceived again, but sadly it was remaining hormone from the previous pregnancy.

It's hard and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi OP, I've been through an ectopic so know how heartbreaking it can be.thanks

How many weeks were you when you had the operation?

Unfortunately, it will (almost certainly) be the pregnancy hormone still dropping from the ectopic. I was only formally discharged when my hormone levels ware <100. The levels need to drop in order for your cycle to begin & be ready to conceive again.

Luckily, I had a normal period 6 weeks after the ectopic, then was pregnant again the next cycle - so there is hope! (Currently 26 weeks and counting).

Just an update really as this is still not resolved, am now even more confused!!

So went back for blood tests a week after it came up as 115. New blood tests showed levels of 300. So not doubling like if it was normal pregnancy but rising all the same. I had a scan which showed nothing in my uterus.

(No coil either but that is another story)

Came back a week later for more bloods. Had a bit of bleeding so Nurse confident that HCG levels will have dropped. Asked me to POAS as if it was Neg then no need for bloods.

Test came up Pos, quickly and V. strong which leads me to believe HCG levels are higher now. Results are in tomorrow.

No amount of googling is coming up with an answer, Nurse mentioned that a 'product of pregnancy' might have broke away and attached itself and be growing...but WTF!! I had my whole right tube removed.

Has anyone had any experience of this?? Know what might happen next ect??

JaneFonda Mon 28-Jul-14 21:25:13

Gosh OP, I'm sorry to hear that. thanks

Do you have a doctor/hospital appointment booked?

Have you had any more bleeding?

ohdearitshappeningtome Mon 28-Jul-14 21:28:46

How confusing this must be for u! Good luck for tomorrow thanks

iamdivergent Mon 28-Jul-14 21:29:39

No experience op but I hope you find out what's going on soon xthanks

HobNails Mon 28-Jul-14 21:32:12

It sounds as though you go pregnant when you had sex 3 days after the operation which is why it was a faint and now getting stronger bfp. It would also explain why nothing showed on the scan.....

stateoftheart Mon 28-Jul-14 21:37:21

I doubt it HobNails as I had a test showing 115 HCG and then 300 6 days later.

If it was a pregnancy it would have been much higher that 300 sad

littlecloud Mon 28-Jul-14 21:37:32

It sound like you are pregnant to me if the numbers are going up and not down. I hope you get it resolved soon and get the result that you would like .

littlecloud Mon 28-Jul-14 21:38:47

115 could have been from your previous pregnancy and 300 from a new pregnancy?

stateoftheart Mon 28-Jul-14 21:39:10

The nurse will call me back tomorrow with HCG test results, I guess we will discuss it from there. But going by the strength of the pregnancy test I would say they are up.

Nohootingchickenssleeping Mon 28-Jul-14 22:09:34

You couldn't be doubly ectopic could you? Sorry :-(

stateoftheart Mon 28-Jul-14 22:16:43

I'm hoping that would have come up in the scan last week. She said my uterus was fine so was my remaining tube. Nice thin lining, so free fluid or anything
