Period was a week late, tested all week (using cheap tests) but all tests were showing negative. Tested again on Friday with a first response and it showed positive.

Friday evening I started spotting this turned into a light period type bleed. Had lots of cramping and pain on one side. Ended up at the EPU on Saturday morning to check it wasn't ectopic. They are 90% sure its not ectopic and said that they thought I was miscarrying as my HCG levels were so low (48). Bleeding stopped after about 48 hours.

Went for another blood test 48 hours later and HCG levels were 184, they then said I could still be pregnant but they wouldn't be sure until I had an early scan in 10 days time.

They said there wasn't any point testing earlier as HCG level were so low they wouldn't see anything.

I still have 9 days to go and they are proving to be the longest days of my life. No idea whether to hold out hope or what?

Anyone been through anything similar before?

Your hcg levels have more than doubled in 48 hours which is a really good thing - they look for an increase of at least 66% I think.
I don't think anything is normally visible on a scan until the hcg is at least 1000.
I had this last year without the bleeding. I had really bad pain, the EPU scanned me and couldn't see anything except a thickened lining and told me it could be ectopic. I had a hcg test which was 223 and then had to come back in 48 hours. It had more than doubled and 2 weeks later there was a tiny bean with a flashing heartbeat on the screen. Said tiny bean is currently attached to my boob having his breakfast as I'm typing this.
The bleeding has stopped, which is a good thing, and your hcg levels are rising quickly! In miscarriages the hcg normally falls or doesn't rise very quickly.
So sorry you have to wait so long for a scan - those 2 weeks were the longest of my life, I know how awful it is.
Good luck and I'm sorry you're going through this, I know it's hell. Flowers and un-mumsnetty hugs xx

Hi Slh122 Slightly more optimistic, don't know whether thats a good thing or not. Cramping has eased off and only had a tiny bit of dried spotting today. Also feel nauseous (never thought i would be pleased to have the on set of morning sickness) so who knows????

Had two previous pregnancies and pre eclampsia with both. I thought that was horrible but would much rather go through that again than this!

How are you?
