Bleeding again, mc 17 days ago

Just looking for some advice, ladies please. I naturally mc at 12 weeks 17 days ago, a few hours before my planned 12 week scan. I had passed baby, placenta etc within a few hours and the doc removed a final piece of pregnancy tissue during a d&c when I went for my scan on that day.

I bled dreadfully the first two days but then it started to ease off and was turning brown, just like I was expecting.

Wednesday and Thursday, I had no bleeding, just slightly blood stained clear mucus when I wiped. Was thinking yay, this could be ovulation, so body is getting back to normal.

Yesterday morning, I woke up, no bleeding but a few hours later, I felt a gush and had soaked my pad and through my pj bottoms. I passed a little clot, about an inch long but quite thin. No more bleeding all of yesterday.

This morning, again I've just had a gush of bright red blood but not nearly as much. However, I've got strong period like pains and terrible back ache (although I've had back pain for months now so not entirely sure it's connected).

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is this all normal? Could this just be the start of an awful AF or still the mc coming to an end? I don't want to bother the doc if this all sounds normal but as I've never gone through a mc before (hope I never have to do it again eitherHmm) Sorry for the long post, I thought I should give the whole story though to help with your wonderful advice I know you'll give Smile Thanks in advance all x

Broody. It does sound as though your body is cleaning your uterus out of any remaining tissue. I passed some clots after cramping for a few hours at the end of my first period, once that was done the spotting subsided.

I don't want to say it's 'normal' though. I think it might make you feel calmer if you had some professional advice, whether that be a GP, your midwife or someone in a walk in centre maybe.

I'm so sorry you are still going through this. I thought my mc spotting would never end!!

So sorry your going through this.
I bled for 2 weeks after medical management following mmc in jan.
Passed lots of clots and then mucus at the end as u describe and then had 'ovulation' pain straight away.. Back ache lots of ewcm etc. (decided not to ttc first cycle and i'm glad i didnt)
Af returned exactly 1 month after mmc and was horrendous, lots of flooding like u describe and passed some huge clots which i wouldnt want to be in there if i had of conceived.
Bottom line.. If ur worried ask for advise.. If it was me i would keep monitoring and if the pain increases or theres any offensive smell get checked out. (My AF was twice as long as 'normal' aswell)
They dont call it the WFT cycle for nothing. X

Hi broody, just wondering if you had a follow up scan? I had one 10 days after mc, where they saw all the tissue had gone but some blood/fluid/clots were remaining. I had stopped bleeding by that point. The doctor said either my body would reabsorb it or it might come out as bleeding at some point in the next few weeks. I wonder if something similar is happening to you and the last bit of stuff is coming out?

Broody I'm so sorry you're going through this. Cramping definitely could be your body trying to pass clots and clean out your uterus. I had this during my second AF after my ERPC. I agree with Jazzy that you should monitor the pain and amount of blood loss and keep an eye for any bad smelling discharge. If you're worried seek medical advice. Don't feel like you're bothering people unnecessarily. That is what they are there for and it's important.

Thanks so much for the advice, ladies, knew you wouldn't let me down Smile

I haven't had any bleeding since about 10am (was only light after that big gush this morning) and the pain subsided pretty quickly so now I'm totally confused!

gail, I've not had any follow up scans or appointments because I mc on the day of my 12 week scan and so they could see that I'd passed so much before I'd even got there (no sac or anything to see on screen, which I'm still not sure was a good thing or not). The sonographer said she could still see a fair bit of blood and tissue to come out but the obs/gynae doc gave me a d&c on the same day to remove what he could.

I did have one morning of heavy bleeding last week that smelt odd but that was a total one off and never anything whiffy since. I think I may go to docs on Monday if I get the same again tomorrow.

I hate this so much!!!!!!! HmmHmmHmmHmm

If anyone should read this through an internet search because you have similar issues...... I bled on and off for 12 weeks. Big clots, little clots and lots of blood. Eventually went to gp who immediately referred me to emergency gynae at the hospital. It appeared that there was still a little tiny piece of fetal issue attached to my womb so I hadn't, in fact, miscarried entirely. Had a mvac, which was painless and over quickly, and stopped bleeding within two days. AF arrived five weeks after.
