Is this a miscarriage?

My first time of posting on here although I've been reading some other posts the last couple of days and found them really helpful.

I'm about 9 weeks and everything has been smooth up til now.

Then a couple of days ago I started bleeding lightly (not even enough to stain underwear). Doctor sent me for a scan and everything was fine - they couldn't see the source of the bleed but healthy baby, heart beat etc all normal.

Sorry if this is tmi but the flow has then increased and yesterday I had a lot more blood although still not heaps (eg enough to fill a sanitry towel in 24 hrs) but also big dark clots of blood - much bigger than you would get with a period.

I had assumed that it was a miscarridge but overnight and today it seems to be getting lighter and no clots but blood not completely stopped.

It's the first time I've ever been pregnant so massively scared that it's a miscarriage but doesn't seem to be enough blood - but too much for everything to be fine if that makes sense.

Any advice? I'm trying to rest which is what the doc said to do.

Is it better to get rescanned as soon as possible (I live abroad and everything scan related is shut today cos Sunday) or to wait and see if the bleeding stops completely? Can a doctor do anything or is a scan the only thing that can test?

Call a doctor now, please. Clots are concerning whether the pgy is healthy or not.

Thanks for your help - feels reassuring just to know there is someone out there reading this.

My doctors is shut today. I've called the hospital and I can go to a&e to get checked out (blood pressure etc) but they won't be able to scan - they've said that if bleeding is light and i feel fine in myself, no pain etc then i should wait and come for a scan first thing tomorrow to see what's happening.

She didn't sound very reassuring on the phone so now I'm even more worried :-(

Clots are not "light bleeding".

I have to say that it doesn't sound great but it isn't definitely the end. And in the meantime you need medical attention today.

She knew that I'd had clots yesterday but today it is light although still there - that's why she is saying wait till tomorrow and rest in the mean time.

They can't scan today anyway (we live abroad and stuff like that isn't open on Sundays - not even in the hospital)

I'm wanting to believe that it might still be ok but I think I know in my heart of hearts that it probably isn't :-(

Trite, but it kept me going through my two mc. And my last "try again" is 3mo today.

I have had quite heavy bleeding and cramping in this pg and at my last scan everything was still ok. I know it will be a long day, but all you can do is wait until tomorrow. I hope it will all be fine.

Nothing useful to add but wanted to say I was in your position almost exactly a year ago am now feeling very sleep deprived thanks to 5w old ds!! I will be keeping everything crossed for good news for you, I would def see if you can get another scan tomorrow, in the meantime I found lots of helped

Thanks for your lovely messages yesterday. Got checked out at my appointment today and unfortunately they've confirmed that it is a miscarriage.

So sorry to hear this Plsadvise - is the worst feeling in the world. Look after yourself and take as long as you need to get over your miscarriage physically and emotionally

I'm sorry to hear that. Do take time to be sad if you need to: grieve to your own timetable, not anyone else's.

But there are almost always MNers online to hold your hand when you need it.
