Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

does anyone know about this?

I has a miscarriage at 9 weeks feb. time. My first two periods after mc were normal (heavy 5-6) days at my normal 28 day cycle length. Since then intervals slowly increased to 35 days but my last was 25. Also my periods are getting less and less. Heavy on the first day and then lasting only about 2.5 days. I feel bloated and periody after period too. I also can't feel myself ovulate like I used to.

I had scan to say pregnancy had passed but small retained tissue but this was during mc. I never had a follow up scan to see if all tissue was gone. could I have retained product do you think? The doctor said I would be ill with a fever/infection/bad discharge if I had it all this time so wouldn't refer me for ultra sound.
Is this the case? Should I be looking at other causes? I have one toddler already and stopped breastfeeding when I got pregnant so wonder if periods/not feeling ovulation affected by that.

thank you!

I'm so sorry for your loss. My periods have been similar, and its something I want to raise at my consultant's appointment next month.

My cycle is the same, but like you, their length has diminished to 2 days flow followed by another day of dribbles

It might not be retained products, but there is the possibility it might be ashermans (where there's scarring left after a MC). That is on my list of possibilities but can only be confirmed by a scan.

Can you push for another scan? On the basis that your cycle has changed?

Is this any help? I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along in a bit!

thanks for your response daisybell1. I had a natural miscarriage so no scraping so assume this means no scarring?? I will try with the scan but not much hope with my gp I think. Would be interested what your consultant says about the short flow though.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I had a TFMR in December last year, and opted for medical management. I was 13 weeks and the baby and placenta were passed in the hospital. I thought all was fine after that, but 3 months later I had a very sudden and heavy bleed, with lots of pain, literally blood was running out of me for at least 30 mins. The doc said it was irregular periods, despite my period not being due, and I didn't believe him for a second. A week later the same thing happened again but agonising pain so I went to A&E. the gynae doc didn't know what it could be but referred me for a scan, which showed retained products from the baby I lost 3 months earlier. After that length of time it is very unusual that I didn't get an infection, but shows that it can happen. Hopefully this isn't the case for you, I hope you get a scan and find out what's going on.
