What has happened to my body since miscarriage?

Hi just wondering if anybody has experienced anything like this, I've had 4 mc the last one was at the beginning of march and every month since then I've had mid cycle bleeding. It always happens around the same point in my cycle but it's quite a significant bleed not just spotting. I've. been using opk's the last couple of months so I cant track ovulation to get my progesterone tested, I've finally got a smiley today on cd19 but I started to bleed a little bit the last couple of days and bled a lot more today a similar flow to the first couple of days of a period and bright red. I've also had sore breasts since about day 11/12 and I thought maybe I'd already ovulated but I hadn't so I've had. that for a week before ov my last period was really light was almost just spotting which is unusual for me.
We aren't ttc at the moment. I have an appointment to see the doctor on monday as I'm really concerned about it now I also have an app with my consultant in a few weeks so I will mention then too but just wondered if anybody could shed any light?

I have heard of slight inflammation or temporary cysts after a MC before? Maybe they could scan/have a look with a speculum?

The Miscarriage association have a specialist person if you email they may be able to ask about it and email you back (or call their helpline).

Thanks squiz been to the doctors which was a waste of time she said to me you're only 26 I'm not concerned wait until you see your consultant. Said it could be ov bleeding there's no way it's that, the last couple of days I've been passing clots and there's quite a lot of blood. If I didn't know better i would say I'm having another mc. Guess ill have to wait and see what my consultant says.

Hi butterfly, I'm having exactly this too. I should be having a scan this week but not sure what it'll show. I'm having pains around my left ovary too. Did you manage to speak to someone?

Hi icklemiss I quickly read you thread earlier and was just looking for it again to ask you the same thing! I went to the gp on monday but she totally fobbed me off said she isn't concerned because I'm only 26, I don't see what my age has to do with it it's not normal I started to bleed cd17 and it only stopped yesterday cd26 I passed a lot of clots too. I also get niggly pains on and off most of the month. Luckily I already had an app to see the consultant in 2 weeks time so I'll have to wait and check it out with her I'm so sick of it though we were going to ttc again in about 6 weeks time but whatever this is will need sorting out first. I had my progesterone checked and should get the results on tuesday, not sure if the reslults will be accurate as I got a positive opk in the middle of the bleeding but gp said it wouldn't affect the result so had it done anyway. I hope your scan gives you some answers I was terrified it was something really bad but I think it's likely to be connected to the miscarriages, I wouldn't wish anything on anybody but it makes me feel a bit better that I'm not the only one it's happening to. What have the doctors said to you have they given you any idea what it could be? X

It's so horrible & unfair isn't it? We have to go through the heartache of a MC & then have to face this as well! I'm 34 & feel my body is well & truly giving up on me.

Drs are just guessing at this stage as can't get me in for scan til at least tomorrow being the weekend. Just managing pain with codeine & as the bleeding has slowed down to a "period-like" bleed they're not too worried. First they said eptopic but pg test came back negative & not they think its a cyst but can't be sure til I have the scan. I do think its connected to MC though. They said maybes hormones are so out of sync that I didn't OV properly last month & this month I developed a super large cyst that burst & that's what causede the pain.

Will keep you updated though. When do you see your consultant? Hate this waiting game.

I took a test too and it was negative but the bleeding really seemed like another mc it was that heavy and clotty, then I was confused about getting a positive opk in the middle of it all I think my body just doesn't know what's going on. I see the consultant on the 16th of july I hope she can shed some light on it, I hate the waiting too all sorts of things are going round my head wondering what it could be. I wonder if I still get af on time as it's due in a few days but I can't be doing with more bleeding I'm sick of it.
The cyst because you didn't ovulate last month seems like a possibility for me because I didn't get a positive opk last month so I might not have ovulated.

I hope you manage to get a scan today push for one if you have to, let me know how you get on.

Having my scan at 11 so will let you know what it reveals. They're also referring me to the fertility clinic as they think it maybe connected to by poly cystic ovaries - I have the the poly cysts but not the actual syndrome so don't exhibit any other symptoms. They're also booking me in for a blood test in the 18th as they're taking Friday as Day 1 & want to test me on Day 21 to see if I've ovulated. Pretty rubbish situation but at least I'm finally being listened to!

That's good that they are going to do some investigations it's just a shame you have to go through hell first before they take any notice. Do you have a 28 day cycle because not a lot of ladies do and it means your day 21 test would need to be a different day or it will be inaccurate mine was done on day 25? It does mean you need to know the exact day you ovulated though which is a pain.

Hopefully you will finally get somewhere.

Because my periods have been irregular & cycles can vary in length they can't be sure when to test me, that's why they've gone for day 21. Hope it's not a waste of time.

Just hady scan (in maternity surrounded by pregnant women) & waiting in the gynae ward for someone to discuss my results.

Oh I know that feeling too well sitting in gynae with them all coming out cooing over scan pictures I'd give anything to be one of them :(

Have you got your results yet?

Spoken to doctor and it appears I have an ovarian cyst so will need surgery as its quite large. Why can't things be simple?

Report
butterfly86 · 01/07/2013 16:30

Oh sorry you are going through this as well as everything else, at least you know what's causing it but not that it makes it any better. When are they going to do your surgery?

Been told to expect an appointment in a couple of months. I'll be scanned again just before surgery in case the cyst shrinks - apparently that can happen & it just turns into scar tissue. The consultant said that it won't affect my fertility chances & I can still conceive even with this "oozing" (nice word!) cyst, another cyst will just ripen & release an egg but that's in a normal person! God knows what's happening in my body!!

How are you?

Report
butterfly86 · 01/07/2013 22:32

Wow as long as that I thought they would do it straight away! Hopefully it shrinks on it's own and you don't need surgery. Will you ttc in the meantime what did they suggest?
I'm ok just glad to have stopped bleeding and I should get my progesterone results tomorrow so we will see what happens there, just really need my consultant app to hurry up so I can maybe get some answers!

saving money no doubt! The consultant said we can still try but I was having positive OPKs during the bleeding & didn't fancy trying then! Obviously the cyst/OV/hormones are all linked so I doubt we'll be successful until that's cleared.

Another waiting game!

I know same here bleeding while ovulating so even if we wanted to ttc right now we couldn't when I'm bleeding that heavily! I never thought for a minute when we started ttc getting on for 2 years ago we would be this far down the line with all these problems and no baby! It's so hard. I'll let you know what my results say hopefully they shed some light.

Sucks doesn't it? 2 years? That's so long. Why have you not been referred before now? How old are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm 34 & think that's partly why I've been referred after a year of TTC.

Report
icklemssunshine1 · 02/07/2013 08:13

Sorry! You had told me your age before. I'm on so many threads I get confused! Really push for a referral today, aske for another GP if you have to. You don't want to get toy age & feel its your last chance.

I'm 26 I've been under this consultant for about a year I saw her after my 2nd mc now I've had 4 in total and still. no further forward I think because I'm still young she puts my mc down to "bad luck" we've asked to be referred to lesley regan or the like and are willing to pay privately as my parents would help us but she just said at the moment she is happy for me to be treat at the local hospital. I think because I fall pregnant easily they aren't concerned but the problem isn't getting pregnant it's keeping them, honestly it's like banging my head off a brick wall it's so frustrating!

That's so sad butterfly. Surely they should send you for a recurrent miscarriage referral, not just dismissing it as "bad luck". I think it's times like this you need to bypass the GP & see if you can contact a fertility clinic yourself. I went toy GP twice when my periods disappeared & was told "wait 6 months its prob stress". Waited 6 months & was told wait another 6 months as the bloods I had taken were normal. I think they think because I managed to conceive twice with irregular periods then I'm fine. It's taken 5 years to do that though, I'd I wait another 5 I'll be nearly 40!

Bloody doctors.

Just got my result over the phone my progesterone was 1.3 the receptionist said it had been marked as satisfactory no further action needed surely that is far too low unless the bleeding has meant I haven't got an accurate result?

I wonder what the "cut off" point is? It does seem low. I'd make an appointment with your GP - make a nuisance of yourself! This is your body & your life, you deserve to be listened to seriously.

Report
butterfly86 · 02/07/2013 23:20

I'm not sure what the cut off is but 1.3 is almost non existent but maybe it's acceptable for certain points in the cycle. I'm not going to bother going to the gp they don't have a clue I'll just wait and discuss it with the consultant. I'm going to put my bloody foot down this time I've been messed about long enough.
