Pregnancy of Unknown location (PUL)

i found out i was pregnant on the 20th of jan

i started bleeding and was sent to an early preg unit , i was 5 weeks +5
nothing showed up on the scan so bloods were taken, was told to ring a week later with results of a preg test

the day before i was due to ring i had pains across my abdomen and woke up with very heavy cramping, rang ward i had acsess to and was advised to go to A&E

they did a preg test wich was a strong positive, did and internal wich was very painful i nearly came off the bed

was sent back for another scan and still couldnt see anything, had bloods done again , result showed hormone levels had gone up slightly

was told to come back in 48 hours for more bloods ,they said it could be ectopic

went back bloods showed hormones had gone down slightly , from 364 to 346

that was on fri , they sent me home and told me to go back in a week

now im worried sick that if it is ectopic my tube could burst

has anyone else been in the situation ?

Sorry for what you are going through. Not personal experience but my dsil had a ruptured ectopic, but she was in a lot of pain before the rupture, and I think a fair amount of denial. If you feel pain, just keep going back to a and e, please don't just ignore it. I'm sure it feels horrible with all the waiting.

Not sure i made myself clear there - I think if she had gone in when first experiencing the pain, then it wouldn't ruptured as the pain went on for a good few hours before things got serious.

yeh the waiting is the worst part

i woke up at 6 this morning with stomach pains but they have given me antibiotics as they say i have a bacterial infection , i looked up the side effects of the medication and its says stomach cramps

so its all a bit confusing , i have no pain at the min just feel generally unwell

Hi my 2nd ectopic was originally a pul did the epu give a letter to carry? I was told to come back in a week but was told if I had any pain to come back ASAP and if it was at night to go straight to A and E and give the letter over so I'd be rushed through. My first ectopic I rupture in theatre have to say pain was like being in labour and beyond belief if u get a pain in ur shoulder dial 999. When I got to hospital first time was trying to be brave. Nurse notified I kept rubbing my shoulder was taken straight to theatre.

My pul was diagnosed as ectopic when scanned by epu consultant a week after first scan. Take it easy and take care of u x

ah thanx loopy , i was just given a leaflet telling me about PUL

id be about 7 weeks preg now and i feel absolutley dreadful, i have no energy at all and im still bleeding heavily , i feel pain when i go to the loo

i just have to wait till fri till they do another preg test and see what they say after that

i keep expecting to get this awful pain

The waiting was the worst part. After 2nd bloods and still pul consultant scanned me. Take someone with. Dh was away and I went alone not realising she would want to treat the ectopic before I went home.

Just be very gentle to yourself.

Where about are u? Winchester was my epu consultant is fab x

im in the northeast , they were really nice at the hospital i went to

ive woke up actually feeling a little better today !

hope this means my hormones have gone down x

hi loopy , i feel much better physically thanx , i had an appointment at hospital yesterday , they did 2 preg tests said they were negative and i could go home , i got home did a test and it was positive , i rang the ward they said they have to go off there test , so i have to do another test in a week and ring up if its positive...

i think its just hitting me now that ive lost a baby as there s been lots of other things on my mind, like worrying if it was an ectopic pregnancy x
