3rd d&c- Scarring?

(14 Posts)

I had two d&c's after loosing ny baby boy at 23weeks. Due to retained products, first time failed and so did the second.

My 2nd miscarriage was natural.

My 3rd i found out today about, first scan over a week ago showed baby had no hb and today a scan confirmed it.

Having a d&c tomorrow which will be my 3rd one.. what's the chance of scaring? I know it goes up with the number you have. Any advice be grateful, thank you smile

Sorry Riley I don't know - something to ask the doctor you see today. Just wanted to say I'm so sorry you are going through this - nobody deserves this shit even once, never mind three times. Will be thinking of you today.

Thank you bakingtins, I'll make sure I ask when i get there. X

Im scared about this too. Sat in hospital right now after scan trying to decide best option. I had one D&C years ago when I was young, stupid & had an early termination hmm now facing one for mc I'm scared the first one will increase my chance of scarring. I have had a baby inbetween though & it was a long time ago so I'm sort of hoping this won't be the case. But really don't know. Best of luck with yours

How did it go boymeetsgirl?

I haven't had mine yet, waited in hospital 11.30-4 to be told they can't fit me in so got to go back in tomorrow at 7am sad

BoyMeetsWorld Wed 19-Dec-12 17:21:56

They couldn't fit you in? That's shocking! Poor you hmm I did go for the ERPC in the end...dr confirmed that it's usually multiple D&Cs in a row which put you at risk. She said as iv had a baby inbetween the last one & this one, it's pretty much the same as having a clean slate.

I'm really scared though - always fear the worst about general anaesthetic etc & that list of 'risks' you have to consent to is a bit daunting isn't it! So I'm schedule for 7.30am Fri morning. When will you get yours now riley?

RileyTheLittleMonster Wed 19-Dec-12 17:44:23

Nope, got to be there by 7.. it could take until midnight to get me in apparently!

That's good news, miscarried April at 23weeks, I had my d&cs in may and june than got pelvic inflammatory disease end of June. Fell pregnant after pid and mc in august 6weeks! Then obviously another mc and d&c tomorrow at 6 weeks... bad year hope my chances of scarring hasn't gone up!

How you feeling after your miscarriage? Sorry to hear about it sad

Bakingtins Wed 19-Dec-12 18:34:05

Riley that is so crap. Hope since you've been sent home today you are top of the list for tomorrow.
Are you having investigations now you've had 3 consecutive miscarriages? They may do a scan as part of that to check all is well in your uterus.

BoyMeetsWorld Wed 19-Dec-12 19:08:37

Well technically mines still v much 'in' me grrr as only had very light bleeding. Actually, I think I'm feeling ok...I knew all along so it was a relief to be confirmed & mine was literally just a sac - even the yolk had been reabsorbed so I don't really feel like I've lost a little person, just an opportunity. You're so brave...going through it much much further on must be so traumatic. I am worried about trying again, don't think I can do this repeatedly... X

Bakingtins, I dont think i am first.. I'm not serious! Yes, I have to wait three months for tests. Apparently after my miscarriage I need I need to wait for my blood to go back to normal?

My babies still in me too boymeetsgirl, its weird to think it is and won't be tomorrow night sad. After loosing my baby boy I can face anything.. that was the worst experience I've been through and could of been prevented if my hospital didn't mess me around! Don't be worried, as hard as it will be because worrying won't male it any better. X

Thinking of you both today - hope you are treated well and as if what you are going through is important. Riley if someone said to you that suffering a third miscarriage in a year was not serious then I'd make a written complaint.

They treated me amazingly today, felt like I was the only patient there :-). Thank you bakingtins thanks

Hi Riley so glad yours went ok. I'm sat in recovery after my ERPC. Wouldn't say I was treated amazingly but not at all bad. The surgeon was very offhand, & talked about perforation like 'it was just one of those things' which scared me. But the nurses and anaesthetist were lovely. Very crampy now but so glad it's all over. Hope your recovery is smooth riley

RileyTheLittleMonster Fri 21-Dec-12 12:39:47

Hope it went well! Surgeons are normally the ones that make you on edge, glad its over for you smile

I'm crampy to turning all night but It's copable so its fine. X
