hello
we were told yesteday at the 12 week scan the baby was only the size of 5 weeks i explained my dates were right (i was minimum10 weeks) and so was told i have probably had a silent miscarriage. devastated. we were told to go back next thursday for another scan to check any signs of development( which to me is pointless) and to return if i start bleeding before then. So what do I do now? just wait to see if the miscarriage happens naturally before next thursday.
this was our first pregnancy

Flowers I'm so sorry. In your shoes, if the MMC is confirmed next week I would not want to have expectant management (waiting for something to happen). If baby is 7 weeks behind and your body is not recognising that the pregnancy is not progressing then to wait any longer is just dragging it out. I've had a natural MC and medical management, and also effectively an ERPC after the birth of my son (for retained placenta). I'd choose an ERPC if it's offered, it will avoid much of the physical unpleasantness and pain of a natural or managed MC, and allow you to have that bit over with quickly so you can grieve in peace. The miscarriage association website is very helpful on the various options.

Hi Flowers - so sorry that yyou are in this boat too. I have just had a natural mc after a silent mc, LO stopped developing at 6 weeks, picked up at 8 weeks

Just wanted to recommend getting some decent pads (night time ones with wings) and if you need to travel about take spare clothes, plastic bag for car and wipes ESP if you start bleeding or getting cramps. This is just in case you have a natural mc this week before your next appointment.

My bleeding started about an hour after the scan, but could have been in same position as next check at EPU isn't til the 28th.
I was at home when I had a big "drop" of tissue and blood with no real warning or pain. Had to back out of room to go to the loo as was talking to man tiling our kitchen, blood all down jeans.
Don't wish to scare you, but better to be prepared than not. It hasn't been any worse than a heavy period other than the tissue passing, and only period cramps. But I was glad I had managed to get big pads in on way home from scan as would have been stuck with DS's nappies otherwise as I' normally a tampon girl.

I'm so sorry, Flowers! I went through a similar thing with my second pregnancy and the wait was agonising! They told me at one point to go away on holiday and then come back and have a further scan but I ended up miscarrying naturally whilst we were away in Cornwall. It was awful as I was on the beach in a summer dress. I really feel for you and wish you all the best for Thursday! Still have hope as all babies grow and develop at different rates! Was there a heartbeat? Lots of love and luck x
