Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

BFP after MMC but doesn't feel right. Worried it's ectopic...

Hello,
Had a MMC in June and started TTC last month after first proper period. Felt weird on that cycle - bloated, etc. (felt like when I came off the pill 4 years ago!) and seemed to ovulate really early so DTD pretty regularly in the first week/two of the cycle. So far, too much info, right?

Since Monday, have had dull ache in lower abdomen with cramps/twinges/sharp pains on left hand side. The sharp pains are intermittent but still ongoing. I POAS this morning and to our delight, had a BFP! Hooray! Except the pain on the lower left hand side of my abdomen has not gone away and I'm now paranoid, having stupidly googled wildly, that it's ectopic.
Are these pains normal in a post-MC early pregnancy? Don't remember this from DC1. What are the symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy? Should I go to the GP/midwife? Can anyone reassure me/confirm my fears?

I would contact your GP/PSU if you are worried. I was told that cramping pains were reasonably normal during early pregnancy but if the pain was just on one side, to get in touch as it could be ectopic. Probably best to be seen and know for sure that everything is ok.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you that it is good news. Xxx

Hello. I would contact your gp just to be on the safe side and push for an early scan. I have had 3 mc and 1 successful pregnancy and have had crampy pains for all of them right from the start. I usually get a pain from my ovary on the side that I ovulated from (the corpus luteum). So pains are perfectly normal, although not excruciating ones. Chances are its not ectopic although best to get checked to put your mind at rest. Lots of luck.

Thanks both for your replies! Have made a GP appointment and funnily enough, the sharp pain almost immediately vanished. I just have random dull twinges now, which I do remember as being more normal, as both of you mention.
I then POAS again but it was a dud test and nothing appeared in the "control" window, so I managed to spin another drama out of that:-). I think I just need to chill out. How do you relax in pregnancy after a MC? Is it possible?

No not really!! I find pregnancy sooo stressful now. I find acupuncture helps as does talking about things. But its basically a case of counting down the weeks for me! There's much more chance that this will go right for you than it won't so try to hold onto that and relax as much as you can. I had my DD after my 1st mc so just hang on in there!
